how to i d a cdrom drive

Hello all,
Wondering if you can help me please. Some time ago I bought an external cd rom drive for my A1200.It is connected to my machine via IDEFix to an IDE cable. There is an external transformer for it and when powered up will open/close with no problems at all. However I cant get my machine to recognize it and it came with no software.Have I bought a turkey or is it possible to get it up and running properly with a software driver I know nothing about.Yours in desperation
Dave

Send a message via ICQ to AMIGAZ
download IDEFix97 from Aminet and install
Only thing you need is a reg nr. for IDEFix which I think we can provide you with

IDEfix works without a registration code, but you get a nag requester every so often. IDEfix is still sold so we can't provide the registration code for it.

Similar problem here. My CDRW disappears after a soft-reset.

Hello,
I have a similar problem...
I use A1200 (Blizzard1260, 64MBfast etc etc) and I have an IDE cable connected to the internal A1200 2,5" port splitted to a 2,5" (I use a 2,5" Fujitsu 19GB internal HD) and a 3,5" connected to a CDRW drive.
Well, my prob is that the CDRW drive, obviously configured as slave, appears only after a HW reset (i.e. RAMIGA+LAMIGA+CTRL), I can see also the frontal led flashing in this case. When a software reset occurs instead (e.g. a GURU, just the secod reboot after the rekicker BlizKick or C:Reboot) it disappears after the boot is complete and WB is loaded! Is there a solution for this?
I use scsi.device 43.43 as well as OS3.9. CDRW Samsung SW-248, HD 2,5" Fujitsu MHS2020AT.
