VirusZ crashes but not when booting from the backup partition, MuForce log included.

Hey!

I have 2 partitions on my Amiga, one backup partition (DH0).
DH2 is the main system partition.
The reason for that is because I need to load ehide.device when booting.
So DH0 is scsi.device, DH2 is ehide.device, not that I think it matters.

Now to the problem, if I boot from DH0, VirusZ works fine.
If I boot normally so it loads the system from DH2, virusZ crashes (system reboots very badly) when the modified vectors window pops up.

If do the same and start with no startup-sequence, same thing happens. VirusZ loads fine when I boot from DH0 but not DH2.

I tried booting from DH2: and reassigning sys, libs, devs and c to DH0: then start virusz, it still crashes.

Something must be different from the backup and the main system partiition but I can't for the life of me figure out what.

EDIT:
Maybe it's the fact that it boots from DH2 (ehide.device) after all, I tried a copy of DH2 in WinUAE and it works fine... hmmm... very weird?

Wow, yeah, it's definitely because I boot from DH2, I put the backup from DH0 on DH2 and then booted from DH2, guess what, VirusZ crashed.
So is it ehide.device or VirusZ fault?

When I installed Boing Bags 3+4 on my OS 3.9 A1200 VirusZ stopped working. I wrote to James Jacobs, the developer and he said this which worked.

"In the Startup Preferences window of VirusZ, untick the "Check
KickTags" and "Check Library Vectors" checkboxes and then save the
prefs."

It may not be the same scenario but might be worth a try.

The only difference here is the boot device. Even with basically nothing loaded except the device driver something crashes the system when running VirusZ and it's booted from the TF1230 IDE port but not from the internal scsi.device.

It could be something to do with the TF1230 rom. With the Cobra I was using earlier the dkb.device in the rom conflicted with the IDE slowing it from 2.2mbs to .65mbs. Quite a bottleneck. The dkb.device didn't show on any info stats either, it was only revealed by the IDEFix 97 diagnostic app. I wonder if other TF users have had issues with VirusZ?

Yeah, I wonder too.
But I'll try to get the author of ehide.device to look at it.
I'm not blaming anyone here but would be interesting to see if we figure this one out. It could be something I did too (filesystem config?).

Btw, the TF1230 doesn't have a ROM in that sense, it uses firmware that you flash to a CPLD.

The issue is reported both to Georg and Erik. Georg said he got some other user reported issues with ehide.device and VirusZ too. That's all I know for now.
