The CONK game engine

https://semprini.me/1995/03/20/conk-...struction-kit/

CONK is an unreleased game engine that's surfaced on the developer's website (I'm not sure when it was actually uploaded there).

It's pretty impressive - all of these screenshots below are running in WinUAE on a non-AGA configuration. It appears to be fully coded in ASM (and the actual source code of the engine, along with the creation utilities are in the archive).

Demo game "Blast"

Demo game "Dodge"

Demo game "Camel"

Demo game "Dave"

Demo game "Spambo"

Demo game "Vege"

That looks absolutely fantastic! Not checked it out but wonder if the dev will resurrect the project. On going development is critical for a game engine such as this. I’d support it for sure.

Looks very interesting. I wonder why it was not released in first place? I am sure there was even press preview in some old magazine.

The creators of Skidmarks are making the finishing touches on their development, which appears to be the ultimate game creation of them. CONK is a versatile system that will allow you to design the most complex games with just mouse clicks. The range of games to play is so wide, from platform games to martian killers, going through all kinds of arcades. Sample games included in the beta version to demonstrate what can be done with this software. If nothing comes up, Acid Software will release this in October.

apparently the full name is "blast the crap out of everything that moves". Legends.

I don't know why, I have a thing for games with a brownish color palette.

Extremely unlikely. i.e. 0%

Did you read his blog? He's a senior software architect these days.

Kind of a genius idea actually, to create a Rambo game in a Cannon Fodder setting. The two are made for each other.

I think CONK itself definitely deserves an entry. The games, hmmm, yes, I suppose depending on how much of a demo they are.
