Fantastic jotd, thanks for porting this utter classic.

Is odd that it never occurred to me that Konami developed the game, the arcade version I always played had Stern on the credit screen, who I now realise had licensed it from them!

The game is a single executable. Should run from hard disk (optionally whdload) as my previous releases.

Yes, Konami invented that. Stern version may be different / harder, as they did with Amidar, and possibly other games. Some Scramble champion told about some rocket never taking off in the Konami version, whereas it did on Stern version. I don't have the resourced code for Stern version, I suppose that they just upped some counters or timers to make the game harder.

okay zoned a beta version as a zipped executable.

I need help about something by the way: I can't run that on a 68000/68010, it crashes in the ROM (or in whdload). Seems that the executable has something that makes LoadSeg read unaligned word or long... if someone has an idea...

others (68020+) enjoy the beta

oh I found the issue

vasm/vlink allows that, that's the problem.

Thanks jotd for the exe.

Tested successfully on A1230 desktop OS 3.2.1.
I launch the game with Run500, if no it show a locked star screen.
I imagine the VBR or Cache can be the cause, anyway in this way the game works very well.

P.S. I noticed the scrolling is a bit jerky.

it's expected to crash without degrader. whdload will be available with the .adf.

The scrolling is a bit of a concern too when the machine is "slow" (I mean not WinUAE). I may have leads to fix that.

Tested on my A1200 and runs very nicely. I did notice the screen is offset slightly to the left but thats not really much of an issue. Upon exiting the game I have no mousepointer in workbench and the keyboard doesnt work for a reset either. I have to switch off at the power supply and switch back on again to get my system back.

Awesome Centering the screen would be cool definetly. Fabolous version, I thought I would like the 2 button approach more, but reverted back to 1 button in the end. For some reason cannot get past the comets, are they faster here, or just age showing?

the comets are pretty tough. All speeds are faithful to the original version thanks to Scott's excellent disassembly.

My advice: stay low under the mountains, middle of the X position, and when a high mountain comes up go forward and up to pass the obstacle faster. Repeat.

adf downloadable from https://jotd666.itch.io/scramble-500

with A500 mode (68000) it's not fast enough and the scrolling "shakes" sometimes.

I'll do my best to fix that. A1200 owners should have no issues.

I love you also Amidar from you recent arcade games.

I'm very grateful for this pixel perfect conversion.

Superb work, if anything I'm actually finding it a little fast on my Amiberry-emulated Raspberry Pi.

Knocking up a few alternate bits of boxart for frontend users.
