Ok, that will be the last individual file that I'm uploading...
I will make a good batch of files and then I will come back again... It's hard for TCD or anyone else working on HOL to keep up with my uploads so I will make your life easier.. |

TCD, I need your opinion.... 3D Galax has 2 different title screens,
One is with the 3D definition the other is without it... You can add both of them of course but which one of the following do you think is the most appropriate? I believe the 1st and last one... |

I'd also say that we keep both #1 and #4
I'm collecting your uploads for now until the display problem is fixed, just if you wondered why they aren't added |

Good morning TCD!
I'm glad that we are on the same tune! Thanks for letting me know, but I was pretty sure that you did! Right now, I'm working to pile up a bunch of titles and upload them as a zip file... I'm almost done with the #-9 section of entries... I don't want to disturb you all the time with single files... after all, as you said before, there is a problem with displaying the images on HOL's DB... |

One more question TCD... do you think that a black outline on the game's title is more appealing? I believe it is... it defines better the colours and the projects a better contrast... should I always use it?

I really depends on the title itself... If the title was on a black background I'd keep it. If the original image used (for example) a blue title on a white background, a black outline would look slightly 'odd'. I think you get the idea

Yes, you're right... some titles are designed to stand out without the need of a black outline... thanks for the help! Once more...

Just got the info from RCK that PNGs aren't supported in miscshots, so you'd have to save the images as JPGs without compression. That way there won't be transparency, so I guess you'll have to pick a 'good' background colour.

Basically the main colour of the screen that the title appears on I'd say (so in most cases black ). I'm sure that scifi will come up with something that looks good

Okay, that's not big deal... we just need a background color... right now every title comes with white background to pinpoint the basic features of the letters and shadows... let's keep it as it is. Okay, let's see an example and tell me your opinion about it... here it is! Oh, and you don't have to sacrifice the transparency! It's well preserved... although the outcome is not the same as the png format. It gets pixelized even in the highest quality! Last edited by scifi; 04 July 2013 at 20:51. |

And with black and HOL's blue background colour... I believe that the white background is the best for this task...
TCD, try to upload the white transparent JPEG file that I have previously attached ... let's see if this time works just fine! |

This is the result: http://hol.abime.net/2349/miscshot
I'll attach a '100%' JPG that I'll create from the PNG too and we can check the difference. If it's better you keep uploading the PNG and I'll create the JPG from it Edit: Looks even worse... I'll ask how we should do it. |

Tell me how and I will do it for you, that's not a problem! I went through all the available ways to make a JPG file from PNG and I haven't seen something like this... could you please give me some info? |

Yep, I meant without compression The program I used had a '100%' quality setting which I assumed to mean 'without compression', but given the result... I'll have a look again tomorrow and thanks for keeping up with the changes scifi
Edit: I think I've got it Please reload the miscshots for 1st Devision Manager a few times and check the second version again. Seems that one is 'pixel perfect'. Last edited by TCD; 04 July 2013 at 22:18. |

You're more than welcome TCD!
Well, I believe that whatever settings you may use, the outcome won't be as crystal clear as PNG format. I believe that if we want to maintain an acceptable and more accurate outcome we should stick to PNG. I understand the limitations that Miscshots section has, so we should consider to add it somewhere else where PNG files can be supported. If this is possible of course and if there is any adequate and available space. Unless there's a way to use JPEG format without any compression and distortion.. if someone else knows a way please feel free to show us the way! I used Photoshop, Coreldraw and other image processing programs and the outcome still remains "blurred". |
