[Found: Xain'd Sleena / Soldier of Light] Looking for classic arcade game
Arcade, early 80's, Side Scrolling, Space adventure.
I played this game on an arcade machine when I was young. The game play was like. Playing Metroid but an arcade version. You were a guy in a red space suit that could shoot with a gun, double jump with rockets on your boots, you traveled the milky way (Earth's galaxy) to each of the different planets, each planet was a level. Venus was a desert planet where giant fly traps tried to eat you. Mercury was a lava planet etc. The grafix were at least as good as something you would see in super nintendo from what I can remember. I have been looking for the name of this game for a good 16 years at least, so if anyone could help me find it I would more then appreciate the help. |

Definitely Xain'd Sleena as Redwood has mentioned. This was one of my favourite arcade games as a young boy, damn hard though... Here's some links regarding the arcade version:

One of the more obscure ones, but remember this one well. Outside of Double Dragon (with the good ol' elbow move), this was one of rare couple of arcade titles I managed to beat at the time.
Like most shoot-em-ups though if you got killed in the wrong section, it was virtually impossible to progress without weapon's upgrade. |

I think it is absolutely atrocious quality-wise, yet extremely enjoyably nostalgic at the same time
The graphics are not as bad as the implementation of them makes them look. And as someone mentioned, it has not been fully gametested I think Best played with trainer, I guess. |

Thank you guys! I had an odd feeling it started with an X or something, but I never had any clue where to start looking.
However... I remember the grafix being a lot better then they are, odd how things that you seen when young wowed you completely. Then become disappointing later on in life XD. I remember this game being as clean and crisp as the original Strider back then, Ohh well. I'm still happy I finally found it, now I can yell at my screen all over again. XD |
