Ork (Psygnosis) problem
Welll, I finally got to the end of this surprisingly enjoyable game - unlike most Psygnosis titles, it has not only nice grapics and sound, but good playability and great puzzles, too. (BTW, I can gladly help anyone who got stuck.)
So, I got to the end of the last level, knocked down the final door, exited the location with a victorious smile, waiting for the - assumedly great - end-sequence... ...when the screen suddenly started flashing, and then the game crashed on me. I tried three different versions (all of them cracked by Skid Row), but with the same result. I think that the problem is caused by bad crack, but I'm not sure... Could anyone give me an advice? Or perhaps point me towards another (working) ADF version of the game? |

Yes, it's the only one I found - there are different versions of it, with different trainers, but basically all of them seems to be identical.

It seems so. Planetemu has some Skidrow versions only. Belgarath also used one of these versions for Gamebase Amiga.

When the screen flashes, have you tried reinserting disk 1?

I've just had a try, and there's definitely a problem with it, I did reinsert disk1, it seemed to load, then came back with another flashing screen, reinserted disk2 and pressed fire but then it crashed.
Skid Row crack is the only crack available. |

Is it worth cracking? Not a great fan of WJS Design!

game, but after a couple of minutes look, looks rather a crap protection as well.
I have a feeling, Skid Row missed data from Disk 1, Disk 2 is packed tight, but on the original, it only loads from tracks 0-17, which seems an awful waste of disk space. |

I think this game is worthy of a good version - it has great music, nice graphics and game over sequence. The playability is surprisingly good for a Psygnosis game (learnable enemy paterns, extra energy pills, save/load function on levels), and it has many good puzzles as well (code breaking sequence, item usage etc.).

You should give the WHDLoad version a shot.
I played that one just a few days ago and you're right about it being an actually good game. ![]() |

I fear that using WHDLoad is beyond my capabilities (I already tried it with a few games and failed every time.) Besides, I have an adherence to floppy (ADF) games for some nostalgic reason... not to mention the option to use savestates.

Just checking here. Are there any level skipping cheat modes for this game?
I've done an internet search for cheat modes, and it mentions putting codes in a computer terminal. Is this copy protection related or puzzle solving part of the game? Also 'might' be able to get the game to compress to one disk as well, so far I cannot see any code wanting to return to disk one. |

Copy protection.
The trained skid row version has a level skip but there's no inbuilt cheat for it as far as I know. |

Also, there is a terminal on the second level which needs a code but it is an in-game puzzle. (You have to collect three keys on the level which give you clues to the terminal code. It's the same in every game.) |
