Level 9 & Infocom missing titles

Hi,

I was wondering if someone from the SPS team could enumerate a few Level 9 / Infocom titles which should be in their "most wanted" list, plz.

Here, at Deleauvive HQ, we don't mind telling you the reason why : I know someone from Level 9 who tried to revive the interest in those games with ported parsers, filling a few web sites with information about these old but venerable adventure treasures...

In other words, the guy is a cooperative Copyright Holder, please bow down .

Maybe it's an idea to pass the info to the SPS team directly. I'm not sure why you should make a thread about it here.

I am asking for them to cite a few titles they still haven't preserved. Please note that not a single Level 9 / Infocom game title is mentioned on that page.

Well it's their most wanted list isn't it? That's why I asked the reason why you make a thread instead of contacting SPS directly? I don't see a real purpose to discuss that in public. Do you see any reason?

The reason is I would be able to link this thread in case the Level 9 dev. asks me what other games they are interested to preserve.

It's a occasion given to the SPS to make an addendum to that list. Then I, and may be others would be able to discuss the availability of such titles.

I would start the discussion here too, if its the right place or not...I dont know

IMO no discussion about Level 9 is useless and these games are gems. Preserve them, if you can.

plain and simple... as long it is not on the games list but on the wanted list... please dump! thanks!

i got a good looking hitchhiker-copy (infocom) the other day just to find that there was a save game on it. the rest is fine, but it's nevertheless modified.

Just like Chris said, please dump anything that is:
- not found by doing a game search
- has a different revision/version number from the one listed

Afaik all non-Amiga versions of Infocom adventures are undumped, so anything not on the Amiga is a safe bet as well.

If you have a list or question please do get in touch.

@mr.vince
So deleting that save file from the floppy is not enough, "bits have been moved" inside the floppy to produce the save file, so it's not accurate anymore.

Sorry, I must be half-blind, I do not see any section of your web site concerning other system (CPC...) game preservation. Is it located on another web site ?

"we are gathering dumps using our software of from other systems (such as Atari ST, IBM-PC or other) using 3.5” media to research their respective and for support. We are also currently looking into disk imaging solutions for 5.25” and 3” media common on 8-bit systems."

You mean this sentence is all the info. there is to find on other systems dumping process in the SPS fashion ? I suppose it means the support for other systems than the Amiga in embryonic. Does someone know if a plugin exist to play CPC SPS from an emulator, by the way ?

There hase been no IPF released ("leaked" so to speak) for any other platform than the Amiga.

Hence no library for any other format. Yet.

Regarding dumping: The current capture tool does capture magnetic fluxes as read by the drive in the Amiga. You can feed it whatever 3.5" floppy you want and dump. Other solutions are being prepared.

Deleauvive you make things more complicated than they are. its easy really, the same dump tool dumps the other formats in the same way as it does amiga ones. you just put say an ST disk in the drive instead.

see wanted page for supported formats.

dump them in the same way.

once we release IPFs for other formats, the very same library will be used for all emulators, as the IPF decoding is not amiga specific, and never was.
