Well, it doesn't crash for me, so probably there is something wrong with your Windows. Check DirectX, ASPI and the drivers for your gfx card, sound card, mouse, keyboard and USB.

Generally the releases published with AmigaForever are most stable. Try 0.8.8 (people say the most stable one ever), 0.8.14 (IMHO the best without JIT), 0.8.17 (the first with JIT), 0.8.21 (the last without DirectInput) and 0.8.23 (the first with DirectInput and with multi-partition HDF and real Amiga HDD support).

Stable Winuae

IMO, Winuae 0.8.27 is pretty stable and bug free. The 0.9.x releases haven`t been that good, I hope the Winuae team can fix the problems in them.

BTW, E-UAE (the improved Unix UAE) is currently been updated to 0.8.27 levels.

I have to disagree. Everyone is entitled to there opinion, but the latest version of Winae works fine for me. And indeed puts to shame many buggy commercial programs. As with anything for the PC, with so many different setups and especially chipsets, Intel, AMD, VIA, SIS etc. some incompatabilities are bound to occur. This is why we all still love AMIGA

All I can say is that Winuae is getting better and better all the time. Sure, there was a time when I was on my old comp and the more recent releases ran kinda slow but then I bought a new and better computer and now Winuae runs like a dream.

I cannot get BSD library emulation to work in 0.9.91 so had to revert to 0.8.27.

pjhutch: More information, thank. Like Windows version, possible error messages, logs etc..

"Does not work" does not really help anyone..

For me, I can honestly say the latest winuae is the most stable version. I have a P4/winxp machine and it works like a dream. It's damn near perfect. All it needs to do now is code its own programs and develop the a5000 and it will be the bomb.

Same thing here. Version 0.9.91 works just fine on my system:

AMD 2400+
512 MB DDR
Radeon 9200SE
Windows XP

I found out that WinUAE works better with XP then with 98 (doesn't effect Windows Explorer that much)

I would also go with PJ's view. Either 0.8.25, 0.8.26 or 0.8.27 The one provided with Amiga Forever V6.0 It works very well, is stable & works fine on Windows98 SE. Good speed, Great emulator. I also used WinUAE without Amiga Forever interface and the best one was either 0.8.25 or 0.8.26 I did notice that Rainbow Islands stopped working with one of them. Can't remember which one. I would take Stability & Compatibility over everything else.

Kudos,
