Is there still an Amiga Demo scene

I'm thinking about coming out of retirement to do a couple of chip tunes a year. Is it really worth staying with .mod format or should I move to .xm or whatever?

Been out of touch for so long I don't know what's going on anymore?

btw have also heard that amiga peeps still compete with PC peeps and do rather well. Is this true?

Have many amiga peeps moved over to PC?

Hell yeah it still exists!!! Many groups like Haujobb or TBL STILL DO stuff for the meega...

And yes, it can kick any PC's ass, as always

Yeah!! That would be cool..... even if there is not a "scene" you could put them up on this forum for us to enjoy.....

I think you might want to join Hollywood's netlabel. It's got a lot of chiptune artists!

One thing I have found is, that non of the PC trackers appear to be as good as the old pro/melon tracker on the amiga... Which is a shame really, guess I may have to buy and amiga then.....

Well, if there DEFINITELY is a C64 Demo scene still (who doesn't remember one of the best C64 demos ever, Deus Ex Machina which was done in 2001!), I'd strongly believe that there's still an Amiga Demo scene too, don't you think?

i'm not on PC but Fastracker is very popular. Similar as Protracker or Digibooster on amiga.
Impulse and Buzztracker seems to be more "powerful".

I really have my hopes up for renoise. With some good synth generator this could be THE allround tracker available... it needs more work on xm/mod compatibility...

A thing that has been bugging me for years is that with PT2.3a died the chiptune compatibility... when tracking you could do

C-4 01 A03
--- 02 A03
--- 03 A03
etc

which triggered sample 1 to 3 in a certain way (other then using C-4 again)... now... NO tracker on the pc supports this feature! why is that?! and PT 3.xx didn't support it either anymore... was this some obscure hidden feature of PT2.x ?

Hang on, not being a PC expert (yet), but I spent a couple of hours with MadTracker, and it did the retriggering thing, changing the sample number without inputting the note again.

I wanna see a tracker use the EFF command which did the PWM type effect to chip samples.

Seems to me on teh PC Fast Tracker is the only choice.. There was a new version in teh works but I think they canned it. It had all that plugin bloat too methinks...

I use AHX and MusicLine on the Amiga. Nothing else.

*burp* yeah your right... MT2 is just kinda slowish that's why i've never used it... Also tone slides are a bit off...

Yep... that feature is also lacking in most (all?) pc trackers... a perfect trackers is just too much to ask. most projects start off really good and after a while development stops... but i still have my hopes up for renoise!
