Am thinking: once problems with rights like WHDLoad will be assessed if was me i would try to get to homebrew developers to bundle some of the new software with the machine - of course paying - and in the future offer digital software bundles for it so to offer a channel where new production can be sold - money is not the main motivator for things but i can tell that if some of the new software i did work on returns me some cash, that help me to go back on doing more of it (and keep silent wife and family that think am wasting time ^^)

I've got a huge wishlist of games I want them to put on (some of those ones in that list are kinda stinkers...). Imagine if Super Gem'Z was finally released legit at last. =^_^=

I think they should've used the A1000 case as then it makes sense to connect an external KB (USB I assume), and the A1000 case is also a simpler & cheaper shape to mould and pad-print, and probably not bad looking miniaturized. Disk slit the size of an SD card. Functional front LEDs via SMD LEDS and maybe simple light pipes... Could probably be single board as the A1000 is quite flat.

There is no product yet right? It's all just renders.

I hope they comply with the GPL for UAE/WinUAE/FS-UAE unlike what they did with the THEC64.

I can't see how they can be using the ROMs without Cloanto's support. Unless Hyperion is sub-licensing their stolen ROM. Or it's using AROS.

Invest in MiSTer instead - it's a much better option.

As for WHDLoad, maybe they have done their own installs to avoid any problem ?
It doesn't seems too complicated to make whd installs for 25 games.

This is a great news IMHO, but I'll wait for the full sized version with a real keyboard.

Hope that will also help for actual Amiga games developpers to expand their possible market (and others soft).

Even the most experienced Amiga coders here on EAB have problems to do it right the first time, and the patches need several updates. If you don't know the Amiga inside out it's a difficult task for specific games.

You really think they can't find someone to make 25 whd installs, even with licensed agrement with whd ? Plus the thing isn't supposed to be released before 2022 so they have some time to work on that.

I'll probably buy the maxi version just to get the case and keyboard lol

Then stick an FPGA computer in the case (Vampire, MiSTer or an UnAmiga 500 maybe)

However, if they are thinking of using WHDLoad, and using installs made by the guys that wrote the installs without payment....... that is not going to happen.

Just as Antstream realised the benefit of WHDLoad and the myriad of installs done by several of us, they paid for it.

For the people behind "TheA500" their contact better be forthcoming very soon.
Interesting mate - maybe drop them an email in that case?

I'd hesitate with a Maxi version. A mini version is a no go for me.

I like this idea too with a wireless keyboard addon or an A1200 with real working keyboard.

P.S love your work on http://androidarts.com/Amiga/AmigaPixels.htm very inspiring

Will there be a Maxi version?

A1200.net has spent too much time and money investing in the injection moulds for the full size A500/A1200 case and Amiga keycaps to not have legal protection to prevent someone from competing in this sector?

https://amigang.com/amigamini-thea500/

The main thing i like I think is just the accessories

Like I said on Amigaworld, its kind of amazing what eye candy can do, I mean Im very tempted, but I know logically, the Pi400 complete kit that I got for £70 + Amikit For £20 is far better Amiga experience (specially now I added Mega AGS package.) and its a far more wildly supported computer, the Pi images, of like Twist OS, and other Retro game package you can add on and it all just usually works is great. Plus then you got all the project/addons you can do thanks to the GIOP pins.

Im sure what ever powers the A500, likely the same type of chip that was in the C64 mini, a Arm chip will be hacked and expanded on, but you cant beat the Pi for its options.

But then its not in a nice Amiga shape and it not marketed this way so I know this will get a lot of success and be the experience for most very light Amiga fans.

Its just kind of a shame that Pi and Cloanto did'nt work together to make say a Pi500, that kind offers all what "the A500" offers but obviously could be so much more
