Way to disable joystick detection

Hi.

This may sound like a strange request but I want to disable WinUAE from automatically detecting my 360 pad as I am using Xpadder and want WinUAE to just use the keyboard as joystick input.

As it is right now WinUAE switches from keyboard input to 360 pad input as soon as i use the analog or digital pad on the 360 pad.

I hope I made sense and thanks for a wonderful emulator that has brought back many memories. =)

Quick and stupid method: set the pad as joystick #3 or #4 (emulated parallel port adapter), any already selected joystick won't be autoselected anymore.

That was quick! =)

Thanks, I'll try that.
Once again, thanks for a great emulator!

Hi again.

Tried your suggestion and the 360 pad stays in it's place so to speak as you said. One problem still exists though and that is that WinUAE still "locks" the joypad's sticks to the device so the inputs I'm trying to use through XPadder seems to be ignored by WinUAE as it still thinks the 360 inputs are the ones I want to use.

Hope that makes sense once again.

Thanks. =)

I think this is the usual problem with programs that inject events, injected events are not low level enough to be noticed by WinUAE. (WinUAE uses rawinput)

Another method to disable autoswitch (if problem is something else): Open Input panel, make sure it says "Configuration #x", not "GamePorts panel", open select menu in right side, select your pad, if input mapping list is empty, add one dummy input mapping (for example some button to unused event, like parallel port joystick button), tick "Device enabled".

At least one mapping is required because "Device enabled" will automatically disable if mapping list is empty. When "Device enabled" is ticked, it is never autoswitched.
