WHDLoad Demos
I switch my Amiga 4000 every saturday-morning and put some demos playing loud. I rarely play games.
I found there's some excelent WHDLoad Games sites, but there's no real 100% accurate WHDLoad Demos site. For example, i found that magic' site has some demos that are not the original 1s (hardwired, etc) and also the exotica site has some more updated demos, but some of them are also not original, and some are just broken. To do a site like the KG for games would be a pleasure for all Amiga HardDrive owners and an excelent tribute to the computer-art. If there's such a site, I'd like to know. |

You can find a lot of demos here: ftp://amigascne.org/pub/amiga
some images there are broken but a lot of them are the original/unmodified versions. |

I do plan on adding all of the whdload demos but the only timescale I can give is "when I've done all of the games" or "when I get around to it".
It's not likely to be any time soon though so don't hold your breath. I know the older demo packs are on some FTPs though so you could try them. |

if there was somewhere to upload em all too I could up em all ? preferable for public share as apposed to just one person although bare in mind i use coloricons and not going through em all to change em, oh and one last note, I wont be checking em all to see if there still compatible with latest whdload although slaves should be latest

I'm currently uploading 258 of the old packs to a friend's server as soon as they're ready they'll be available at *removed due to abuse*

Yes I know. But I'm naturally lazy so I'd prefer if I could download them all w/o having to use external programs.

A pain in the #2645 ?
heh Anyway theres loads of ways to 'grab the lot'. I for 1 use a plugin for Firefox (on WinXP) called DownThemAll. Surely theres something like it for the Amiga, if thats the platform your using. |

Edit: Link is now dead, please use a bulk downloader or site copier to retrieve all the files at once. I use and recommend open source tools like wget or HTTrack. Last edited by OddbOd; 24 July 2007 at 14:52. |

the incompatible slaves with whdload 16.6+ use CUSTOM options in tooltypes (for hiddenpart for example or others options)
one question : how to fix a slave without source (for custom problem it's the taglists to fix with dc.l 0,0, no ?) demos list tested Only for whdload 16.6+ Custom fix (resload_control error...) based on the downloadable versions from oddbob (I dont know if slaves were fixed now) : - chip attack -> not fixed - chromatic -> not fixed - crayon -> not fixed - Dirt -> not fixed - gen 4 demo -> ok - legalise it 2 -> not fixed - lethal exit -> not fixed - linus -> ok - Maximum Overdrive 2 -> not fixed - megademo 2 rebels -> not fixed - melodies -> not fixed - metal & lace -> ok v1.2 - misery dentro 2 -> ok - numb -> not fixed - rampage -> not fixed - ray of hope 2 -> ok - seven seas -> not fixed - software -> not fixed - subtle shades -> not fixed - system violation -> not fixed and some others crashes with lasts whdload versions last edit : 21/07 Last edited by heavy; 21 July 2007 at 18:01. |

It would be best to report those bugs to the slave authors if they really are buggy. I just tried Linus (the only demo install of mine on the list which you claim doesn't work, and it works perfectly) so I'm not sure how trustworthy your list is tbh! |

Your slave is certainly good coded with taglist ok This list is only based on readme file, if slave use or not "custom" option list to be updated with others infos like updated slave with taglist fixed and If not, is the author will fix it one day or not ? or ask to wepl for the source... edit: list tested and updated Last edited by heavy; 18 July 2007 at 14:26. |

Inspired by the recent discussion about WHDLoad I started to create slaves for demos. First one is for "Book of Songs" by Complex. I'd appreciate if you could test it on your machines as I only have an A4k/060 and UAE for testing. You can download the installed version here: Book of Songs WHD. The demo requires 512k chip and 512k other mem (would a version that requires 1MB Chip and no fast be better?) and you can quit it with 'F10'. Feedback welcome! Oh, and it would be nice if someone could create icons for my installs.
