@mcgeezer robinson5 suggests $FF00. I'm performing this after having read, but I guess that it doesn't make a great difference.

Note that on V0B I tested the writes to this register, and nothing came out. But it seemed to work. But it's WinUAE (where the behaviour is simulated, but you never know with those awful extra button read methods)

Following the versions with whdload patch will probably be a bit difficult to follow. Not sure if I'll create one at each beta.

FF00 vs CC00: makes no difference if 3rd button is not needed.

No, the ADF is bootable.

Did you disable all of your external drives so you get the maximum chip ram?

Can you provide a screen shot?

In the Zone you can find the WHDLoad version (RygarWHD.zip)

By 'mounting' do you mean inserting the ADF in a WB environment and try to start the exe from it?

I tried the WHDLoad and ADF version of this game on two Amigas and it seems that the main character's jump does not work at all (A1200 /40 /128MB) or only for a short time (A1200 /20 /4MB). However, everything seems to work properly on WinUAE.

On the title screen what version does it say?

It could be 0.6, 0.7, 0.10 or 0.11

Does button stop also working (or only works once) in WinUAE if you change Game Ports panel device type from "default" (or "gamepad") to "Joystick"?

Movement, jump and the game itself work fine on my A1200/28Mhz/4MB.
(The only bugs in my setup are graphical glitches)

Rygar 0.11(=V 0B) loaded from physical floppy. A1200 with Blizzard 1220/4.

Ideas:
Both Buttons on your Joystick working well?
You dont have Autofire switched on?
Maybe try a joystick test.

Edit:
Some weeks ago i tried a dozen of joystick testers and one of the best is from cret. It also checks for the 2nd button. Uploaded it to the zone for anybody interested.

Irek have you tried the whdload version in the zone? because it seems to depend on the joystick used, and I think I fixed some missing instruction in the whdload fix.

This 2nd button "war" could go on and on. Even some commercial games from the 1990s had broken 2nd button support because the testers had some "nice" joysticks (or CD32 pads). I've fixed a couple of those.

It wouldbe good to get some concise technical guidance on how to implement this properly.

Perhaps i havent done it right, my understanding is that ineed to write to potgo and then at least 4 scanlines after i need to read potgor.

I use a monster joystick and a sega cd32 pad...

Perhapsi need to widen the time between write and read.

You only need to write once to POTGO if you only need to read normal digital joystick button 2 (and optionally 3), it is described in HRM (Interface hardware chapter, Digital IO on the controller port. "These lines can be also used for button input"..).

Only CD32 pad need more complex method.

EDIT: There is confusing information floating around because POT lines can work at least in 3 different configurations. (read variable resistor = analog joystick/paddle, normal I/O pin, I/O pin with internal pullup. Analog joystick mode can be also used to read digital buttons but it just makes it much more complex without any gains)
