What's the best gfx card specifically made for Amigas ??

I was just wondering what is the best gfx card made specifically for the amiga ?? Also how much is such a card worth these days ??
My guess is that the Picasso IV ranks high there ??

Picasso IV and about £200 perhaps a bit lower.

A bvision is good for a desktop A1200 but you need a BPPC.

Thanks I'm mainly interested in the card for a Box Amiga

Also, with a Picasso IV, is it possible to have all gfx output (incl. native modes) scandoubled with that card or is a scandoubler required for the native modes ??

It has a 24-bit integrated scandoubler.

The scandoubler can be "removed" so make sure you get one with it fitted or separate with cables.

I see some go for 80 GBP and I see the same cards go for over 130 GBP, and I also see some people asking 150 GBP for it, so what is the real price ? Depends on where you want to buy it from, and if you want to buy from Ebay then I can tell you that the best deals can be made on a Sunday evening Most winning bids are pretty low then ...

I paid $US275 for a PIV about 2 or 3 months ago. I thought it was a fair price.

The more people charge extreme prices, the more potential buyer think this really is the actual price, even if the cards do not get sold at those prices ...

Hi to you too Keropi

I've got CVisionPPC and I think it is the best card made specifically for Amigas.

I have a voodoo5500 pci... and it is the best card that should of been made for the amiga!

does that count...

infact I do hava a cybervision 64/3d Mk2 and i found it a very nice card to work with. it was very simple to setup under p96 (i think most cards are) and its highly configurable with cgfx.

Its a shame the (limmited) 3d acceleration of the Virge S3D chip was never used. it could of opened up some interesting demos and game posibilites. I was totaly p*ssed with H&P with their lack of support with StormC & Warp3D grrr... still bites me now.... grrr....

well i just looks like i gotta write an opengl library for the amiga OS3.x )

then a few games... make loads of money porting them over to the PS3/GBA
ahhh.... if only...

the best zorro-based card is the picassoIV, the best PCI card is the voodoo3-3000 and the best custom-slot card (pci) are the Bvision/Cvision

how compatible are BVision/CVision ? (I mean with each other) there are some demos (Planet Potion, the bestest amiga demo ever) which is said to be specifically for BVision. Would it work on a CVision ? anybody tried ?

CVision and BVision are much faster than any PCI solution because of the increadibly fast transfers between CPU and GFX mem.

I am under the impression that the Bvision's is mini PCI, making it quite a mute point?

aha!.. interesting, the Bvision is (miniPCI) infact a 25mhz PCI bus. the mediators / grex have a 33mhz bus (for the wont of a shark ppc so i can have it at 66mhz LOL )

The cybervsion is on a 50mhz VL bus (z3) but really doesn't have many hardware 3d features.

i thought the bvision and cvision had tons of 3d hardware features (for the time) hence warp 3d, etc.
