A600 right sound channel not working
Hi.
I have got my A600 re-capped by a friend. Unfortunetly in the process the right sound channel stopped working alltogether I am sending it back to him for repairs, but to help him find a cause I would like to ask here if anyone has some experience with this ? It was working fine when I send it there and he tested it before sending it back and both audio channels worked fine... so something happend in the transport or when I put it all together and turned it on Hope someone can give some hints on what to look for ... |

Probably bad soldering on one of the caps he replaced so it came loose in transit.
You can try pressing down on the caps and see if the sound comes back. |

I also just bought an A600 and there's also something wrong with the right audio channel. I will have it re-capped by a friend hoping this wil fix it. If it's something else and if he fixes it, then I'll let you know.
AmigaKit offers an audio repair service. I wonder what this is, just new caps, paula-chip, ??? |

Gently pressing on the two audio caps (by the keyboard connector) didn't help the cause Are these the audio caps or are there any other?

You take it back and negotiate with your repair man. Checking audio is absolutely vital in any Amiga repair because of the chances of problems due to leakage.
With the unit on and no sound playing you start taking measurements around the audio section with a multimeter and work out which part of the circuit isn't working. If you have a CRO that's even better. I've covered audio issues in various Amiga models over many posts and so have others, so if the capacitors have just been done then I would assume there was some kind of warranty offered or at least assumed otherwise it's caveat emptor. |

i had the same problem with an A500+ you sure its not the actual channel port is loose
on mine the pin from the aux cable wasnt touching the slanted connector of the channel ports so i just pushed it down and it worked fine |

Nope, both connectors are fine. A600 goes into mono mode (both channels on the same connector) if only one connector is connected. So if I remove one of the connector then the left channel is played on the other, regardless which one I remove. So both connectors are good.

A600 is fixed now. One of the capacitors had a floating wire... not sure if it was original soldering, post office or something that caused it... it is fixed now
Also I just noticed how crisp the A600 RGB video output is. It is MUCH better than both A500 and A1200 I have.... almost digital like. WOW Suddely the A600 looks like the amiga to have, really. Kipper's 8Mb fast ram to add and it will be the gaming system to beat |
