Delfina vs Blizzard prb - was Please HELP Anybody!
Delfina vs Blizzard ? ? ?
Hi I wonder if anyone can help? Does anyone know whether there is a hardware conflict between a Blizzard 1230 IV and a Delfina flipper soundcard attached to the clockport of an A1200. I already have the Blizzard installed but when I add the Delfina to the clockport the system won't initialise and a yellow screen continually flashes. If I disable the Blizzard the system boots up but I need both to work together. I have an A1200 desktop, (3.0 roms) with a Blizzard 1230 VI @50mhz with 68882 FPU If anyone could help this would be great help. Many thanks Gavin |

Have you got anything else to try on your clockport?

No but I can use the soundcard if I disable the Blizzard board. It's really wierd. I
was told that the two boards both have the same patch included in their hardware to operate on the A1200. It could be a conflict between them both maybe? |

hmm strange how the rig wont initialise with both cards, how are you doing for power?
you may need to get some more juice! preferably a modded PC one would be nice... you can get them little ones (about 120 - 200 watt) for about 5£ on eaby and there SOOOOO easy to modify! if this doesn`t work perhaps try booting with no startup and / or a default workbench ? |

I have tried booting from a workbench 3.1 disk. But to no avail. The problem occurs prior to boot time.
According to Amiga.org post yellow screen= Hardware/ Software conflict. The problem occurs at power up prior to any disk activity. The two pieces of hardware work independently from each other but they refuse to work alongside each over. Strange. It has been suggested that there is a hardware patch on each board which is essentially the same which prevents the computer from booting but I would require further information prior to making any physical alterations to the cards. I haven't tried the power supply solution yet, maybe the lack of power could explain the fault? Thanks everyone for your suggestions Gavin. Confused?!?!? |

it sounds kinda fishy that only one will work at any time, I know that 68030 cpu's sap a lot of juice especially at 50mhz like the one you have.
I am not sure what the delphina takes, but it wouldn`t suprise me if its quite a chuck... i am also guessing that you have a HDD in there as well... is this all powered from a standard A1200 Brick PSU ? if so that the problem right there. By the way.... welcome to the boards ![]() |

Hi Everyone
Yes I also have a 3gb harddisk inside. I know the clockport gives off about 12v but I am unsure of the consumption of the Delfina card. Currently running off my A500 psu is; a 2.5 inch HD, 68030 blizzard @ 50mhz + FPU, Delfina connected to the clockport, a 2nd external floppy drive, also a squirrel is connected to the PCMCIA slot to a SCSI cdrom. Do you think this is my problem right here, I thought the A500 psu was a little more heavy duty and could handle large demands? Thanks for all the replies folks. Gavin. |

@Tempest
yeah... imma thinking you have out grown you current power needs... (an 030 @ 50mhz its quite a whop! not to mention 3.5" HDD oh and NOT all A500 PSU's can cope with it..) but dont fear its a part up jucing up ![]() have a look on www.amigakit.com or www.vesalia.de, if you prefer to do it yourself (please see bottom of post ![]() ![]() @Marco.. Theres nothing wrong with HELPING yourself, admittedly, because as you may go blind doing that... or so i i herd... err... kinda ![]() |

Thanks for all your help. I didn't realise that my system was swallowing so much juice. Ill look into a replacement PSU or altering my current PSU.
I have plenty of other PSU's in the loft along with all my other Amigas. Thanks for the links. Great forum! Gavin. ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() A big thank you to everyone. The problem was a bridge of two capacitors patched on the reverse of the board, which I removed. A big thank you to Jens Schoenfeld for suggesting this. For anyone with a Blizzard 1230 IV card used in conjunction with a Delfina this does work. You cannot imagine the relief when the two boards fired up together and now I have a fully functional Delfina. Thanks again for your time Regards Gavin ![]() |

My digital camera is absolute rubbish. The pictures I emailed to Jens Schoenfeld @ Individual were terrible, out of focus. Here is a link to the page I used. You can contact Indiviual Support for assistance.
They are fully aware of my problem, especially as I was the first to report a problem with a Blizzard 030 board. They were a great help. ![]() Homepage - http://www.jschoenfeld.com/ Hope this helps anyone else who is banging their head against a wall. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Tempest; 09 October 2006 at 14:07. |

Delfina & Blizzard 1230 IV Assistance
I have found the following images on the web, they should help. I have noted what components need to be removed.
Once removed keep hold of the capacitors, you may want to use the card with something other than a 030, 060 Blizzard card. Hope this helps ![]() Regards Tempest ![]() |
