A2000 Horizontal Copro board for accels, Pistorm etc
Hi All, jst finishing up this...
It allows you to use your accels etc laying down instead of standing up in your A2000 and running out of room and of course no annoying wobble, this lays your accels flat, no wobbling, and it has an onboard Gotek emulator, Using the original ARM chp). I will sell these if there is sufficient demand, |

thanks, it will work for fastmem boards, pistorm, vampire etc and make cable runs so much easier and with the use of my extension cables for ide and gotek etc allow all the buttons from gotek etc to be sent to a custom plate at front of a2k. (shown is my trusty 64MB CF card, now almost 20 years old and still ticking

How can it lay on the wrong side when all the old zorro boards are all defunct, LOL? .there are still a few slots available for those people still wanting to use them. People with newer accels etc can use it to connect to the board. There are also a few more things i have added to this board, will show when its done

lets add pistorm to the list... or mabbe we can just put in an 8MB full size zorro board instead. To each their own, its about adding choices for the end user

What about Freeway (PRO) USB, AT BUS CLONE 2008 (for CD-ROM), and A4091 (replica)?

there are 2 full slots free plus the others, i cannot believe tht anyone needs/has them any more and wants to run them in tandem with Pistorm etc. As i said personal choice, people can choose what works for them but it is definately not the wrong way round

Okay, okay, assuming these all work, why would you use an A4091 on a 2000? I mean, why even bother with SCSI anyway when you can't DMA it into CPU local RAM? Oh, hello 700kB/s, you're soooo impressive. LOL. But I'm seriously curious how you can even run in a 2000 since it's a Zorro III Bus Master. Both the Vampire and PiStorm offer storage options that are MUCH faster than any SCSI or IDE solution on Zorro. You can connect CDROM to a Vampire -- not sure about Raspberry Pi, but I'm going on a lark here to say modern Linux can PROBABLY handle anything via USB. Vampire's USB isn't as good, but seriously, using USB at sub 1.1 speeds would be intolerable for anything but HID. But yeah, you make a very compelling argument. Assuming all three of those boards even work in an Amiga 2000 with a PiStorm or Vampire... |

k, new update... added 8MB Fastmem, added a 10 pin header to feed a new front cover plate (done but not shown). Cover plate has USB, large oled, Gotek buttons and CF header. Still a lot of work left |

The thought of having the forces of slot insertion/removal on something held in only with solder makes me ... extremely uncomfortable. Solder is not a good fastener. Also, despite what people are saying here, you are giving up 3 expansion slots for an accelerator board (as a Gotek would never occupy a slot to begin with).
The loss of slots will have to be decided on a case-by-case basis. If you're currently using your A2000 as a glorified A500, this will be just fine. Still, a fascinating project. |
