Counting Zorro slots
Is there a way to tell the total number of Zorro slots in an Amiga, whether occupied or not, in software? ie return 4 on an A4000D but 5 on an A4000T
I believe the answer is no but maybe the gurus on here know better! I'm really only interested in Zorro III systems. |

The answer is essentially a qualified no. You can count the Zorro slots which are populated but not the slots which are unpopulated. However, even if all the slots were populated some models have more slots than others, so no reliable conclusion could be made in either case.
BTW, the CPU slot can function as a extra Zorro slot too. Last edited by SpeedGeek; 16 September 2022 at 15:07. |

No, the only thing you get is the number of configured logical devices, and they need not to be in a 1-1 relation with physical hardware. Empty slots you cannot count at all. For example, a single physical hardware may have multiple autoconfiguring devices on it (rather typical for graphics cards is to be build around two logical devices, one I/O region for the register set, and another region for the graphics memory). Even CPU boards (or other system components) can "inject" logical devices into the autoconfig chain. |

(I thought there was a newer version of WhichAmiga, but I don't know where it lives.) |

The latest version of WhichAmiga should be available on Harry Sintonens site: http://www.iki.fi/sintonen/sw.html

WhichAmiga attempts to identify A3000Ts from A3000s by the Ramsey version (assuming that A3000Ts have Ramsey rev 15+) but that doesn't work reliably - my A3000T has a rev 13 Ramsey in it for example.
