Count me in for two .
The sub-page for the product still exists, btw. A recommendation regarding a compatible Ethernet-SPI-slave would be nice. |

I wonder what’s going on with this project? Permanently shelved?

The project is on the website as of today, listed still as "Coming Soon".
I was not aware of the project before today so I don't know if it was hiding all along or it has been put back? I would buy one of these since RapidRoad does not work well in my A1200 so it would be good (probably) for ethernet plus if I ever got back into tinkering with hardware it might be really useful.. |

The performance was unrealistic, perhaps a bug that could never be resolved?

Project is now more than year old.
I really would like to have this, would it be too much to ask for a short status update?. For me, seems that project has entered to problems? |

This is on sale in Alinea Computers now https://www.amiga-shop.net/Amiga-Har...ml?language=en
Price is humble 34,95€, BUT for me seems that there is only a SD card device driver included?? This based what is inside of this 7-bit_Installer_v1.1.lha Wicher 500i rev.2c has also a SPI interface, it has a device driver for ENC28J60 Mini NIC / Land card. Will it work with this? |

This is for the A1200 clockport - can it be made to work on the clockport of a Deneb? I think that has a different address location to the A1200 clockport?

As far as I know, they are not sale. Don't bother to get one, there is only a SD card driver for this. Retro 7-bit doesn't communicate well about this, but after year wait I get to know that most likely there is no other drives for this product. I disapointed both Retro 7-Bit and my SPI controller.
This could have been game changer product, there is a lots of different SPI devices. I would have hoped a NIC and MP3 decoder drivers. |

If the CPLD used, XC9572XL, had been more readily available then it would be easy to create an open source version of this adapter. Having the design as open source would allow others to develop drivers for their favorite SPI peripherals.
It may be possible to use some replacement cpld such as https://www.mouser.se/ProductDetail/556-ATF1504AS-7JX44, but chip availability is pretty bad all around atm. |

You don't need the board to be open-source to write drivers for SPI peripherals. You just need good documentation on how to use spi.device or spi.library or whatever, and the documentation for whatever SI device you're connecting. How the board actually works is irrelevant.

I have implemented the spi part as a resource for now (but only very simple, the resource just presents a semaphore, the actual SPI code is in the SD/network driver) but I think a device would make more sense. Such a device would then need to support functions to set polarity / clockphase, speed, etc, etc. It would also need proper fallback in case some hardware doesn't support all the features (like my hardware ) |

Yep, good documentation is essential with anything like this. My worry with lots of these projects are that they turn out incompatible with other similar projects because there isn't an established standard API. Decent documentation would help avoid this, allowing already existing drivers to work.
