Depends on the IPF file.
The answer is No for 90% of IPF files, i.e. the image has strong copy protection. |

IPF files are disk images (like ADF) but they contain more low-level detail which can be used to record the copy protection information.
It is a format created by the SPS Software Preservation Society. You cannot (at the moment) write them back to floppy disk, but you can play them with a host of Windows, Amiga and Linux UAE emulators using the SPS plugin There is no SPS plugin for the XBOX version of UAE |

I couldn't get the sps plugin to work with my WinUAE.. which versions of UAE are supported ? After installing the dll-file according to the information, WinUAE still don't recognize ipf files. Do I have to rename them (to adf..?) or something ? |

No, you don't have to rename the files. There's support in WinUAE since the plugin is available. Which version of WinUAE do you use ? I hope you use the recent version available on the WinUAE website ?

I 'm using version WinUAE 0.8.8; Release 8. It has AGA support, for instance. That's the version included in AForever 4, if I remember right ?! |

Hui, that's a really old version. Better use a more recent one.

newer releases of WinUAE require directX v.8 or newer. I'm still using Win98SE (yes, it sucks!) in my peecee, and I think I'm not going to update it anymore.
So, I haven't read the faq yet, but there has to be some way to mount IPF files, for example, direcly in Amiga OS 3.9 ?! |

What do you don't want to update, Windows or DirectX? If you just want to keep your Windows, the newest DirectX installs on Win98 too. Directly in AmigaOS you can use them to do a WHDLoad install with the IPF file I think.

@thor
I don't want to update Windows at all, neither DirectX.. I'm using WinUAE mainly for testing purposes only. Thanks, I'll try to access IPF files via AmigaOS |
