Amiga 500 internal drive leaves marks on floppy surface

Hello friends!

I need a little assistance/help here ...

My Amiga 500 is working fine but last night I notice that the internall drive is leaving marks on the floppy disk surface !!

After analysing some disks, the marks are on both sides, but worst on the down side of the floppy.

The drive is very quiet not indicating any problem.

It looks like that one head of the drive is causing wear on the surface, leaving marks arround the floppy internal surface.

Any idea on what's appening ?

Broken drive?
Dirty drive?

In this condition I can't use my Amiga 500 because of the risk of damaging my floppy's.

Thanks,
J

Something has to be wrong with the head(s).

If a piece of grit has lodged in it this could be part of your problem. Unless someone has a better suggestion all you can do is transplant heads out of a different drive, but there may be alignment issues. Floppy drives aren't really my forte.

Anyone knows if someone here is selling an internal drive in NOS (New Old Stock) condition?

Well, i'm very experienced in amiga floppy drive problems and you can solve this by cleaning the floppy drives head with a swab and alchool.
Let it rest for a while and test it again.
You'll see that this should solve the problem.
