Preparing

Looking at deleting my CF as I have deleted so much and frankly seems like a complete headache in recovering everything that I have lot.
I am thinking about just formatting my CF and starting from scratch.
I have never done this before as my 1200 was bought on Ebay with a CF preloaded with workbench and loads of WHDload games.

I have a Magnum 4mb card and looking to get a great machine up and running.
Could someone please get me up and running. What do I need to do first?
How do I format my CF to use on my real 1200? Do I format it using Windows? Which files do I need to run WHDload games?

Which version of Workbench is the 'sexiest' and best looking?
Where do I start?

You don't need to reformat your CF card, if you connect it to your PC and use WinUAE, add it as a hard drive in the WinUAE options you will have full access to it.

*Do not let Windows Format it*

Take your pick from the Classic Workbench Packs http://classicwb.abime.net/

I actually suggest the Lite pack for your setup

You can also check out AmigaSYS AGA:

http://www.amigasys.com/

Although I'm a CWB man myself

OK. The guide looks great. There is a part on this guide that says 'format' so I am guessing this part will delete everything that I have on my CF and give a clean install of 3.1? Like I said I am new to this so I apologise for the noobness of my questions. So after I install this I will evidently need WHDLoad games, is it easy in terms of getting these working? I think I read somewhere in order to get them to work I will need lots of different kickstart files etc?

if your cf card has already been set up for amiga it will not need reformating so you just need to follow my cwb guide on your pc then copy this system to your cf card

I thought I would mention that you can create a 'HDF' file of your CF card before you wipe it, using WinUAE.
