Can't load some games...

Certain games won't load, for example the Pinball Fantasy AGA series. When I attempt to load I get a WHDLoad (18.6) error message:

DOS-Error #205
(Object not found)
on reading "prefs/env-archive/sys/nv_location".

Seems I need the nv_location file which is not on my drive (fresh install WB 3.1.4.1). I'm guessing I've not installed a package that I should have?

Hmm... can't remember what creates this file. If I'm not wrong WHDLoad itself or slave install scripts should create it (have a look at Pinball Fantasy readme). However, you can create this file with a text editor or "echo >sysrefs/env-archive/sys/nv_location "ENVARC:sys/nonvolatile" or any other path should work too.

Some games save highscore for example to this directory.

The install of WHDLoad came included with BestWB (which is also installed). Not sure if anyone else who's installed WHDLoad from there has the same issues, or if there's a newer version than 18.6.

I meant to say that I'd added a nv_location file into prefs/env-archive/sys, but made no difference, still have the same error message. Should there be any content inside the nv_location file, or just an empty file?

If you use the latest install script for Pinball Fantasy it should create/copy the file for you (see readme). The file "nv_location" contains a path. Make sure this path exists. On my system the path is "ENVARC:sys/nonvolatile" what should be the default path (haven't change it).

If you still get errors you should start SnoopDOS first then the game and after error happens post the SnoopDOS log here.
