^^ just reading above, i will try what earok wrote:

CD32 pad mappings seem to be:
RED: Start/Fire (Player 1 or 2 depending on joypad)
BLUE: Exit settings menu
FORWARD: Insert coin
If you are talking about the "patched" Candy Puzzle then yes; earok's information is spot on.

With Harem Challenge this image file extracted from the .CHD will also need to be "patched" before you can use...

Toni; we may need your expert skills to work out what to patch with "Harem Challenge"

I've loaded the extracted .BIN file in a HEX editor and tried searching something similar as found in "Candy Puzzle". Used hex-values: 4A 40 67 00 00 08 4E F9

There are 14 entries so...

i was reading what Toni wrote here - but i was about fixing the wrong game (Harem).
aside this mistake, i had problems editing the bin file using WinHex or HxD.
I could not jump to the position of the file. which hex editor are u using to change the value (67 -> 66) in the bin file?

I used HxD to patch the "Candy Puzzle" .BIN file. I didn't jump to the position; scrolled there unfortunately...

In Toni's instructions he mentioned "Edit offset (dec) 16701286 of the bin-file" but you need to leave it in (hex).

HxD i was using too - if you use the slider to scroll forward, it just jumps from position
00000300 -> 00128888 (not 100 percent exact values but close to it)
same with winhex - so i have to use page up/down to move on - takes hours...

*ohhhhh* first time it failed - but now using "Search -> Goto" with value FED766 (dec 16701286) - it jumps to correct position.
you have to place the cursor at the very begining of the file and choose "offset relative to begin"
*phew* i was close to

Yeah, wasn't fun scrolling

Clicked & held the scroll bar slider / dragged down until I got in the vicinity then kept clicking below the scroll bar slider until I finally got there

and this effort to just change a single byte
but look what i found out about "Search -> Goto" in HxD - makes things easier next time

Well, that's it for me.

...tried locating all 17 hex-values "4A 40 67 00 00 08 4E F9" and then changing "67" --> "66".

Obviously one at a time / test / reset back to original .BIN file / move onto the next found string / repeat. Not surprisingly it didn't work

...so if we want to play this game on a real CD32 or via WinUAE somebody more skilled will need to advise on what exactly to patch.

That's a shame Toni; I imagine it would probably take someone with your skills 10 minutes to figure this out.

Oh well; maybe some other coder will give this a try and advise...

I only manage to play Harlem Chalange, but to run it I need to check every mame version because it do not want to run of most versions I tried.

Just checked newest MAME 0.179 and all games are working expect Odeon Twister 2 which is working partially.
I also noticed that "Magic Premium" is same game as "Lucky Five" mentioned here:
http://ninjaw.free.fr/cd32/_CandyPuz...D32/index.html
so Lucky Five seems to be prototype or something...

From looking at the SendSpace downloads for "Candy Puzzle":

...if only someone could work out how to patch the only other Cubo CD32 game worth playing: "Harem Challenge"

MAME CUBO driver has patch addresses, if someone is interested in finding matching location in CD image file.

Note that there is no guarantee addresses are exactly right, for example if booted with CD vs without CD can make a difference.

Nice work jarred; unfortunately I'm in the same boat as yourself so can't offer further advise

I'm no programmer / coder so have no idea what to look for... as you've probably already read in this thread, I tried patching the same string (17 different instances, one at a time, test, move on to next) as with Candy Puzzle but this didn't work...

Unfortunately we will never able to play "Harem Chellenge" on a real Amiga CD32 or via WinUAE unless either Toni (job too boring) or some other coder steps in...

Edit: looks like I posted when Toni replied
