Mad Elks Technological death A500mini issues.
Apologies if this is in the wrong part of the forum.
Treated myself to an A500 Mini, I'd had an A1200 but had to sell it, so with PAypal doing a 3 stage payment I grabbed a mini. So far I'm enjoying it but one of my fave demo's is the Mad Elks Technological Death, so I tried it on the Mini. First issue was the resizing of the red demon head, had to be on Immediate Blit for that to work but the next part with the wire lines plays but there's a blank bar across the screen for that part. I've been mucking about with the few settings you can set and nothing fixes it. Anyone have any idea's apart from buy your 1200 back |

I don't know what can be set in A500Mini, but try setting up a standard A500 (KS 1.2, OCS, 0.5 CHIP, 0.5 SLOW, uncheck all Blitter settings, Cycle Exact on).

Hi Amiclassic, sadly the emu used is Amiberry 3.3 and it seems (once you get in to it) that it's not as advanced as WinUAE. I'm hoping that now it's used with the device that more time will be put in to it.
Thanks for the reply.. |

You can tweak a few more settings than the UI allows in the .uae file that is generated when you open the settings menu for an ADF, but you have to be careful to not open the settings menu again then for that ADF (or whdload) file or else it'll overwrite the file again and your manual changes will be gone.
The main thing that I am missing from the A500 mini / Amiberry 3.3 is WinUAE's most compatible setting. It is the exact setting that makes It Came From the Desert behave properly for example. That is one of those games I just want to play hanging on the couch. |

For performance reasons I think. They specifically stuck with an older version to match the Raspberry Pi hardware. Newer versions of emulators tend to become more accurate and thus use more system resources.

Reminder the mini is neither a real Amiga, nor a good emulator.
If you can't have the real thing for whatever reason and desire a very accurate emulated experience, use WinUAE. |

I Love those ELKS and somehow this OCS Demo is more exciting than most AGA DEMOS (no offence guys)

The WHDLoad version works fine in AGS v1.4. Demon head works and no black bars anywhere. Maybe have a look at the config files I made as they might have a clue on how to get it running properly as a standalone WHDLoad.
