AmigActive scans

Hi!

I really appreciate AMR, and especially the AmigActive magazine scans section :-).

However, I was disappointed when I found that there were some issues
missing (only a page or two). Especially, I'd appreciate scans of the first two (or three?) magazines.. So.. anyone out there with more (missing) AA scans ?

Floppy disk AmigActive Scans

Hi macce2,

I have the AmigActive Magazine Collector's Edition CD Volume 1, which covers issues 1-6 of the magazine.

The magazine articles are reproduced in six .pdf files (one for each issue), and a front-end .pdf is included.

AFAIK this was the only volume of the Collector's Edition CD made available by the publishers (Pinprint).

AmigActive Magazine was discontinued after 26 issues and subsumed into the new short-lived 'Digital' magazine.

The Active Media Group folded in April 2002 after four issues of Digital, leaving its subscriptions (mine included!) unfulfilled.

My subscription had started with AmigaActive Magazine issue 26...

Hi prowler,
Why you don´t upload a iso image of your AmigaActive Collector´s Edicion CD to MagixFTP ?
So every person could have it

I have scanned almost every issue of this - I think I'm only needing issues no. 2 and 17 to have the magazine completely scanned.

You will just have to be patient for the rest to come online (so far 3-18 are fully available online).

Hi AlfaRomeo,
Wouldn't the .adf files be sufficient? They're very good

@macce2:
Would you like these files instead of waiting for the scans?

OK, I've uploaded all six issues to MagixFTP in the AACD/Magazine Scans folder. I hope you like them!

@macce2:
The AACD files are the cover-mounted CD images in 7-zipped ISO format.

@Galaxy:
Perhaps these files could be used to make images suitable for AMR.

Funny you should mention that - me too!

Did you enjoy getting those two Digital 'mags' for your AmigActive subscription before it stopped all together..?

Hi Charlie,

I actually got all four issues of 'Digital' before it stopped, taking my tally for a year's subscription to five issues (including AmigActive issue 26).

To compensate somewhat, issue 4 of 'Digital' actually came with a cover-mounted CD-ROM, something which the publishers had said would never happen when the magazine started in order to keep the cover price low.

[Edit] The crazy thing about this magazine is that it was talking about planned features in subsequent issues and actively seeking new subscribers right up to the point where they must have known that the writing was on the wall...

Well, how about the other issues in pdf-format, too ?! ;-)
Someone there with more AA issue pdfs or scans (those missing in AMR..!) ? :-)

I've got every issue of this mag. I'll scan and upload #2 and #17 should I get a bit of free time. Right after I do those CD32 Gamers I promised an age ago.

I think the whole enterprise was characterised from the start by a reluctance to face reality - an Amiga mag launching in 1999! But taking people's subscription fees under false pretences is really the pits.

My AmigActive Magazine Collector's Edition CD, apart from the pdf scans of the first six magazines, also contains the best software from the first six cover CDs.

There is too much data from the Collector's Edition CD already available on MagixFTP to make the full upload worthwhile.

However, I have noticed that the first three AACD ISO images have not yet been uploaded to MagixFTP.

It has occurred to me that I could create a 'pseudo' ISO image of each of the first three CDs based on the contents of the Collector's Edition CD.

Would these be worth my time to put together and upload? Would there be sufficient interest?

I'm fairly sure there were no further pdfs like these released - at least not by the magazine's publishers. However, I'll check some of the other AA CDs I have to see what they contain...

@macce2 @AlfaRomeo

I'll see what I can do, now that I know you're interested.
