A590 - how to make it bootable?

I have just dug my old Amiga 500 out after about 15 years of hibernation, luckily it still works perfectly!

However, I am a bit stuck in getting the A590 up and working again.

It booted right up when I plugged it in, however it had a kinda crappy install of Workbench 2 on it and nothing else. I decided to low-level format it and put it back to Workbench 1.3, which is how I remember it

I can low-level format, verify, partition and initialise the drive, but I can't for the life of me remember how to make it bootable!

Currently it's not bootable, but perfectly accessible when you boot from the WB floppy.

Can anyone please remind be how to do this? Thanks in advance

Switch at the back, number 1 on for autoboot.

Upgrade it to WB3.1, format time is about 10 times faster than 1.3

But it booted perfectly when it had the WB2 install on it... I haven't changed any of the switches!

I'd prefer to keep WB 1.3, as that's what I used for the entire time I used the Amiga!

I do have another A590 with a dead SCSI drive I can have a bit more fun with though

You need to download the A590 dms disks from http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/a590#s_a590

It has a driver for the installation to make it bootable.

A590 does not need any autoboot drivers. Non-booting under 1.3 usually means missing FastFileSystem in RDB. (2.0+ has it in ROM)

Use hdtoolbox to add L:FastFileSystem from WB disk (there is button somewhere in hdtoolbox)

EDIT: I agree using A590 install disk is probably easier because it does FFS install automatically
