Hello,

a potential problem (reported by Sink on the AF forum). A glitch appears only in OCS mode with this demo during the " TeddyBear " scene (pic 1). Edit : WinUae 4.9.1, WinUae 4.4.

Note: I can't verify this on real A500, the OCS machine is unavailable at the moment.

Intro from 1993 so it was probably written on ECS, but if we assume that on OCS configuration is a bug emulation then I checked and it appears since version WinUAE 3.0.0.
On WinUAE 2.6.1, 2.7.0., 2.8.0, 2.8.1 this intro works perfectly on OCS configuration.

I personally don't consider such cases as bugs, if on any configuration demos run perfectly

Latest WinUAEs are right, SPR6DATB is not fetched cause OCS bug and low DDFSTRT.
No problem on ECS or AGA.

Tek-Rampage ( Floppy and WHDLoad versions 4.9.1 ) :

Quickstart 1200 with or without Fast and + ( with 4.9.1 and + ).

Something seems broken at the ship scene at least since Winuae 4.9.1 ( freeze ).

and also with A500 Quickstart with latest versions of winuae.7z ( at least with floppy in this case ).

Interesting, fix is simple, but it is not the point.

It can definitely help the new chipset emulation, because there is a condition that it shouldn't work, but for some reason it does

A500 is now Ok with latest 7z.


After multiple tests, I guess that the problem of this demo ( floppy and WHDLoad ) with Quickstart A1200 and + is probably related to the usual CPU 020 problems ( with new chipset emulation ) because:



"Exotic" Quickstart A500 + AGA chipset = Ok

Quickstart A500 + EC020 = crash

Quickstart A1200 with or without Fast = crash

All combinations with or without JIT ( 030,040,060 ) = crash.

The problem is on a blitter setup routine: for a combination of events BLTCON0 is rewritten when the blitter is running and low memory is trashed in emulation, as it should (I don't go to much into the technical details).
It only works on real machines due to unexpected, undocumented and rather lucky blitter behavior

Made In Croatia by Binary -> A500 Quickstart and the latest versions of winuae.7z

Old CPU ucode IPL problem! (this was fixed in the latest official)
(easy workaround is to disable CIA bug in Adv.chipset to advance to next problem)

The next problem now appears with the missing left part of the title picture "Made in Croatia"! (not happens in the latest official)
(and after the title screen and text part the emu gurus!)

492b3 update:

Spectreparty demo aka dots demo / Phenomena was finally confirmed having same CLI screen flash on real A500. It is quite rare. (Because staring the screen is extremely boring and it is just a single frame glitch, ross hacked it to have logic analyzer trigger in CLI copper list, then let the demo run. Needed multiple reboots before it happened)

Expiration / Mayhem (ugly) cube should finally work without glitches.

68000 is finally fully cycle-accurate, including IPL timing (=when each instruction latches IPL line state which is microcoded like almost everything in 68000)

If there is still any remaining A500 demos which worked badly and my reply was something like "it is probably IPL related" (and even if wasn't): Should be retested now, all of them should now work
