Some little things I stumbled upon

I'm working on a project which requires crawling through all the HOL entries. Here are some possible "data problems" I've encountered so far.

Asterix and the Magic Carpet - was there an actual English release?

Mean 18 - Ultimate Golf - Misc Courses 4 (1987)(Accolade)[cr QTX][data disk] - is on Turran, but not in HOL

Scenery disk 7 & 11 - they are available, HOL shows MIA entries

Good question. All versions of the game I could find are either French or German. As long as there's no proof of an actual English version I'll remove the language from the entry.

I found a file where I kept notes on HOL....here are a few more entries with possible errors or omissions:

Quote:
1987
Bivouac - is Chamonix Challenge

1988
Afterburner - does it exist
Alert - has WHD
Andromeda mission - no WHD?
UMS - no whd?
Rockford - not MIA?
UMS scenario 1 & 2 - not MIA?
WordPlex not included (TOSEC)
World Class Leader Board - Extra Courses - are they in?

1989 Judo Atemi is Karate King hack/rip??

They might be a bit cryptic but I was mainly concentrating on my collection so this was just a side activity.

I guess the problem is that there is actually nothing indicating that the scenery disks are active. Added DBS to both entries with the scenery disks active (you just have to take my word for it ).

Not sure what you mean here.

Sadly I can't edit WHDLoad info for HOL. Maybe posting in this thread will help: https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=19938

Rockford - not MIA?
The Arcadia version isn't available as far as I know.

Correct. Added both DBS

WordPlex not included (TOSEC)
Hmm, good point. I will take a look and also ask if there (maybe) was a reason why it isn't on HOL.

Urgh... so many data disks. I'll take a proper look tomorrow and add all the entries. I'm all data disked out for today

Well spotted. I added a 'is a modification of' to the entry for Judo-Atemi. Maybe somebody knows the story behind this as once you see it it's very obvious that it's a hack.

Thank you for all the info and hints

No worries...glad they can be of use. I'm pretty sure there was more when I was crawling the year 1990, but at this point I've stopped taking notes seeing as there was not much interest in that original report.

If you want, I will start paying attention again when I do years 1991-onwards and will give you a shout if I find anything.

With Afterburner I think I meant the fact that maybe Afterburner II doesn't really exist officially, but it's actually explained in the notes on HOL so that's ok I guess.

It's the whole numbering releases thing. Like Final Fantasy VI from Japan became Final Fantasy III in the US.

A what about to look sometimes at TOSEC?
You can find there also this spanish version:
"Asterix en la India (1987)(Coktel Vision)(ES)"

That's why, you should add this laguage to language entry.
The languages should be:
-French
-German
-Spanish

And also in this case, you should add to the game entry new alias, namely:
Asterix en la India

The aliases should be:
-Asterix En La India
-Astérix Chez Rahàzade
-Astérix Im Morgenland

Yeah, how could I overlook the Spanish version when checking if the English one actually exists...

Adding it now.

Ok,
just note...
try to change the alias from "Asterix en la India" to "Asterix En La India"
Everything is with upper cases in HoL.

Examples:
Art De La Guerre
Capitán América En La Venganza
Difensore Della Corona II
Passeggeri Del Vento

Finished 1991, here's some more stuff that came up. If anything's unclear, ask away.

1987
Head Coach Pro Football Simulation - has no relationship link to other releases (Pro football simulation, head coach).

1989
Femme Fatale has data disk vol 3 - not listed

1991
Mixed up mother goose enchanced - no whdl
Action stations - has scenario disk in TOSEC (diff than Disk 2 scenarios)
Demolition Mission was possibly PD 1st - TOSEC 1990 version has no Courbois (c)
Falcon - relationship to data disks missing
Raid 1-4 (PD) - missing relations between them
Truckin on II - missing relation and separate entry for Truckin on (game is in TOSEC)

1994 "Ciach-bach" not in database

TOSEC
-Tlelco - is TLELOC
-Jack Niclaus' - not sure about the '

Probably it's name matched (as I said before I can't edit it directly), so unless either RCK or Wepl fixes it there's not much I can do.

I'll look at the rest.

It came with a scenario editor, so it's not clear if this is an official data disk or not without more to go on.

Good point. It's indeed the same game.

Were you looking at the CDTV entry? The disk version has relationships.

I'll create an entry for it tomorrow.

Not sure what you mean with the TOSEC section.

@TCD
-Wikipedia says that "Action Stations! Scenario Utility Disk was also released." Also, it was "hacked" and "supplied" by some cracking group. Not sure if that means anything but perhaps warrants closer investigation.

-Falcon - yes, you're right as CDTV version is from 1991

-TOSEC, sorry that was meant for TOSEC itself, not HoL, some spelling corrections

Thanks for the quick fixes

I just checked Google quickly about the Action Stations data disk and it didn't come up with much. I'm all ears for more leads though

The scenarios on the TOSEC disk match the ones in this review (which also mentions Amiga release). The only problem is that they talk about two disks in this release, and some additional utilities - and on that TOSEC disk I can only see the scenarios.

Thanks, boss. I see you added an entry for the Femme Fatale data disk too, it's not MIA though.

Yeah, somebody needs to take screenshots. I'll get to it either tomorrow or on Monday.
