My Neo Geo CD =D
Yo peeps,
Thought I'd share a couple of pics and a short Vid of my new Neo Geo CD bought from Amibay So here it is, all setup: Running Metal Slug which I burned to CDR, simples This is just Composite I really can't wait to set it up in SVideo or RGB, looks amazing - I've played it on the emulators 1000's of times but I do love playing games on their inteneded hardware Here's a short Video: [ Show youtube player ] |

A fantastic purchase I totally agree with you, playing retro games on the original hardware beats emulation any day!
The Metal Slug series is definitely one of my favourite old skool 2D shooters. I own Metal Slug Anthology on PS2 and Metal Slug 3 on XBox. Impressive specs on the NeoGeo CD too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_Geo_CD I always wanted this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_Jaguar , but the horrendous joypad put me off ! |

Congrats, always loved SNK hardware - how are you getting along with the CD loading times?

Thanks guys
So far loading times have not frustrated me too much, they are a little slow especially on KOF99 but the games and the nostalgia of playing on the real hardware makes up for that! So far I've played: Bust-a-Move (against the missus and yes, she won ) Metal Slug (Awesome) Metal Slug 2 (really Awesome) Neo Turf Masters (I love this Golf Game from back in the day!) King of Figters 99 (runs really well but very frequent & slow loading!) Fatal Fury (Again used to play this back in the day, at our local chip shop. This brings back some memories and loads really fast!) Still need to download and burn up such classics as Soccer Brawl Steve. |

That looks cool,i have heard about the slow loading times myself but you do not see many of the cd systems around so its a good purchase.

With the price of the carts, Neo-Geo was begging for a CD system and isn't it a little beauty?
Nice bit of kit fitzsteve. Noticed you've managed to slip yet another setup in your front room - unless you have a couch elsewhere in the house. Those setups must be everywhere by now! |

Nice find Steve. I always wondered about loading times on this thing, as I remember even GamePro in 1995 review complained about sluggish, single speed drive.

How are you running the PSU? thru a stepdown transformer or something? Or is it 110v-240v?
I have one here I can't get to fire up, I've tried dodgying up a molex connector and stealing the power from one of those USB-SATA/IDE adapters, but still no love. |

Yeah It's not ideal but overall with the cost of the cartridge games I'm happy to accept the loading Quote:
I have the Jap PSU so might just buy a stepdown from eBay Steve. |
