My Amiga 500 Special Edition
Hi! What do you think about my Amiga 500 Special Edition? It has got an internal PC PSU, support for PS/2 mouse and keyboard (here with wireless keyboard and mouse), two disk drives, joystick port on front and scrolling message on front display that can be programmed with the buttons to the right of the display. The shell is from a Denon DCM-270 CD-player. Please ask for details if you want to know how something has been done.

i used to have that combo on my PC, and i found it quite unreliable! |

I use that keyboard and mouse combo because I had it lying around, will get a nicer one maybe.
Pointless, well at least I can have it in my shelf with my dvd player etc. and use it from my couch with only one cable to the joystick

Like you said, you can put it with DVD/Digibox and it wouldn't look out of place. |

That looks absolutely fantastic my friend !
In my book turbo boards and HDD's are not a must for a modded amiga. Anybody with deep enough pockets can put together those, but to assemble and finish a project like this requires love and compassion and that's what I respect most great work indeed, keep us posted ! I notice you're from Finland. There's a finnish guy around making&selling 68k socket hdd adapters for A500. Just a tip.

Ok, some pictures from the inside with explanations:
 1. Programmable Scrolling LED Name Badge Tag Sign from eBay. I opened it up and noticed I could easily rewire the buttons to the front of the unit (2) and also use the 3.3V line of the PSU instead of using a battery. It turns on when I turn on the Amiga. Price: 12€ 2. I used the circuit board and buttons from the CD-player, most of it, I cutted away some of it and took some buttons out to make place for the joystick port. 3. This is the reset-button wired to the keyboard connector of the Amiga circuit board. 4. The joystick port is screwed to the front panel and wired directly to joystick port two of the Amiga. Price: 3€ 5. A normal external Amiga disk drive removed from its chassis and connected to the floppy port of the Amiga. Price: 5€ 6. Mouse / joystick switch, not currently in use. I want to connect the PS/2 mouse adapter and a Playstation gamepad adapter to this but the PS/2 mouse adapter didn't work when connected to this switch. Price: 9€ 7. Panasonic JU-257A606P PC disk drive modified for Amiga according to these instructions: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=30944. Price: 3€ 8. +5V for the mouse and keyboard adapters connected to the PC PSU, also the ground for the reset switch and the power led. More to come... stay tuned.

 10. PS/2 keyboard adapter, power led and reset switch connected to the keyboard connector. 11. PS/2 keyboard adapter (MMKeyboard). +5V power line for the adapter is connected to the PC PSU since it can supply more power. http://aminet.net/package/driver/input/mmkeyboard. Price: 7€ 12. PS/2 mouse adapter (MousePS2). Power line for this adapter is also connected to the PSU. http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/mouseps2. Price 7€ 13. I used the line out jack from the CD-player and re-wired it to the line out of the Amiga. Serial- and RGB-ports are also rewired to the back panel. Price: 6€ |

...and finally...
 14. I used my Dremel to make a hole for the PC PSU and screwed it to the back panel. I will see if I need to have a fan connected or not. Price: 5€ 15. The only thing I had to touch on the Amiga was the power port. I de-soldered the original port and soldered a normal PC peripheral power cable in its place. I had to re-wire one cable from the PSU for this because it needed the -12V line. Price: 1€ What else... the disk drives are screwed to a piece of plexiglass that is itself screwed to the shell with help of plastic pieces and metal pieces from the CD-player. The disk drives don't move at all and the construction is very solid. The motherboard of the Amiga is screwed to the bottom of the shell, I had to drill holes for that of course. Did I forget anything?
