>visuals in Interceptor, and that wonderful low, humming music.
I remember my surprise when buying the 512K expansion that it now boasted intro music with a looped sample from the first notes of the Top Gun Theme intro, wicked! |

Think I'll reactivate this thread, My first was a A500 but I cant remember which pack it came from, never mind
The Amiga A1200 Desktop Dynamite bundle was awesome for me. I was the first in the crowd to get one of those. If my memory serves me right, I paid nearly 400.00 GBP for it 'n' waited nearly a week for it to arrive. I may of paid more for this beast cause I got a 200Mb HDD with it too so it was probably more than 500.00 GBP. I cleared the room 'n' built it's own computer station, where it sat proud of place using the original monitor I had for the A500, the Phillips CM8802. This beast was well looked after, she got a 4Mb, I think, memory expansion, a second floppy drive, new joystick, mouse matt, dust covers and an over expensive HP DeskJet 500 B/W printer. I loved this baby and when it went phfffzzzzzzz, and broke entirely it broke my heart I was so sure it would blow away any chances the IBM PC's would have over the market but I was sadly wrong, my replacement was a 286 DX PC, I hated it, It was big, heavy 'n' ugly sitting on my desk where my beloved A1200 once stood I am so glad to have WinUAE it's revived my Amiga days enormously Edit: 83 replies to this poll is quite sad considering there are in excess of 12500 members, I think, maybe 12417 members never owned a real Amiga 'n' maybe we should add emulators to the poll You can check for your Amiga Bundle here http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/bundles.html it's worth having a look Last edited by DH; 08 October 2008 at 14:42. |

Maybe it's because the other members didn't got any of these fancy packs I got a plain one too, so what should I choose? Oh and of course many Amiga owners got their machine used nowadays.

Yeah! Thats true, sorry to all those who never bought a fancy Amiga pack but I still reckon there are more EAB members out there that did, 83 replies does seem a bit low 'n' not all of them are to do with the purchase of a pack either (just like this one). Maybe they are just too embarrassed by the crappier packs that were available 'n' don't want to submit it to the poll

@DemonHellraiser ouch a 286 prob one of the worst machines to have, hind site here but prob been better stick with a cheap xt till 486s arrived, but hey life without any computer is no fun at all |

Yep! the bad old 286 was a pure headache it did give me something to do though, then upgraded to a 486 not long after which I still have 'n' it still works too . All the original components except the 5¼" floppy, which was removed for the 1x CD drive, this is something I'm trying to get as I have a bunch of old 5¼" floppy's that I cant check or backup before they die.

Graham, did you get them new? It's just they are approx the same hardware!
Strange sounding buy. Most people dont go from A500+ to A600! |

Yeah I think so, and I know it's a bit odd, not sure how it happened. I was very young... I blame my parents
I think maybe my 500+ had given up the ghost, but probably would've been better to go to an A1200 at that point rather than move sideways. |

Be honest... did you nag your folks to get an A600 because it was small? ;-)
I know that I wanted one. I had to wait until 2003 until a guy (on our road!) sold one to me via Ebay for 99p + some god expensive postage. He seemed very dejected when I turned up less than 2 mins after the end of the auction to collect in person |

Can't remember, I was only seven (that's my excuse)
I did like the design though, I thought it looked really cool, even though it wasn't an advance on the 500. Didn't get a 1200 until 2001, it was great finally getting one after all those years, cost me about £20 from a local computer shop (now sadly defunct). |

First Amiga? An A500, kickstart 1.2, no such thing as "packs" for the hardcore . Well, it did come with 10 PD disks and the SCA virus on (initially) one of them!
Next Amiga: A1500 pack, and a GVP controller with 2MB of memory. Blimey, that was a lot of money for what you really got: it was considerably more than my first car, including 6 months insurance... Then second hand 3000 from Ian at White Knight, then a 4000 from a mate... |

I had the Batman Pack. Got it from WH Smiths and took out a loan to get it. £299 was about 3 weeks wages in those days - I was 17 years old and had been a Speccy user since the early 80s.
Anyway, I remember thinking it was knackered when I unpacked it and plugged it all in because there was a little switch on the RF modulator that needed moving - spent about half an hour frantically plugging and unplugging everything, then spotted a note in the manual regarding the RF Modulator switch. WOW! The Kickstart screen is up! I then put NZS disk in because it looked like the coolest game there - hmmm, it loaded fine but what are the keys? nothing seemed to work... read the game booklet.... Joystick only???? Yep, you guessed it - the original Batman pack had NO JOYSTICK in the bundle. Had to make do with FA18 Interceptor until I could afford a joystick. Ah well, happy days. |

A500 Screengems pack @ Christmas 1990 (I was only 12 back then).
Games weren't brilliant - Days of Thunder, Back to the Future II, Nightbreed - all sucked.. saving grace was Shadow of the Beast II - which I remember kept playing the intro most of Christmas Day! 1.3 Kickstart, didn't get a RAM upgrade until my birthday in March the following year... I managed to pick up a used Screengems boxed pack a few months ago Summer 1993 or 1994 I finally upgraded to a 1200 Computer Combat pack - again, included games weren't brilliant (Zool 2, Total Carnage (total crap morelike) & Brian the Lion)... Had Wordworth processor but I always preferred Final Copy II so it never got used. I always preferred my 500 to the 1200 mind you... Last edited by Paul_s; 12 October 2008 at 11:57. |

I first had as A500 for christmas 89 or 90. It was the flight of fantasy (My brother opened a Batman pack), damn fine christmas that was, expected and Atari STE and got an Amiga 500, .
We would all take our A500's into school and take over a science lab. All day linked up gaming, . I then had an A600HD Epic, after my A500 was stolen, . I was then given an A500 with A590 and later gave the A600HD to my brother. I then got a CD32 Fantastic Voyage pack, awesome pack. Dont care what anyone says, Microcosm is awesome, . |
