Some Mega Drive / Genesis games have more colors on CRT TV because of smart trick with tiny stripes.

I just recently bought a 32 inch LCD TV off Ebay for $40 to play Amiga and other retro systems. You need that slight bluriness!

CRT..
I use an LCD for my A1200, but that's a space issue. (I share the same LCD with my main computer, the 2nd screen for my work laptop and my Amiga (and a possible 4th device) using a KVM.) I prefer CRTs and my A1000 is happy with his 1084s, and I am.. ..as long as he keeps working... desiv |

CRT, i hooked up my amiga 1200 to my 42" LCD and I find it can't keep up if things are moving on the screen too quickly and just blurs the image

CRT is dominating the replies then
I can understand why though after trying a standard 15" CRT/VHS it looked graphically awesome! |

My Sony VPL-HW30ES Projector for sure, playing at 104" beats the crap out of everything else!

Main problem with LCD, is you cant get the native resolution, so it looks crappy. |

This is very noticable with Treasure Island Dizzy, with LCD the entire border is a mass of light blue. With the CRT the screen is filled with the game

My vote's for CRT too. I have a 25 inch Sony Trinitron just for gaming and RGB on it is miles better than my modern flatscreen.

All this could be fixed with shaders on LCDs, if done properly (but people tend to go too far and just make it look gimicky instead).

CRT will give you that warm fuzzy retro feeling
And most Amiga graphics have that calculated CRT dithering that looks a bit awkward on LCD. BUT ! CRTs are huge even 14/15 inchers ask for some space. If you go larger than that it's like... half a room. |

The picture in this post is how it looks in PAL mode with my Mk2; http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=889235&postcount=8 (the fish-eyedness of the picture is due to the camera) |

A real Amiga obviously crt for it's perfect movement on anything that moves 50, 25 or even just a constant framerate. But winaue and scanlines does look gorgeous on lcd. I can live with lcd and when I want really smooth movement I switch back. I mostly use the xbox and a lcd component at 720 and don't mind the compromise because I tend to play less arcade moving style games these days on amiga
