no-intro?
i've stumbled today in the no-intro dat for amiga, site:
http://www.no-intro.org/archive.htm that as you see is updated to august. the info is sparse there, and as i prefer not to sign up to yet another forum, i wanted to ask some info here, if you know what is that. it is SPS stuff? or tosec stuff picked between the many variants? is it unckracked or untrained stuff? they are dats for "pure" images, so yeh, not cracked or trained etc. The amiga dat is for SPS only.

You know already that dats are checksum based, so they can be easily merged. I don't know what you mean with an official author. You see that for this dat SolidSnake and Connie are responsible. I guess they collect the images and make the dat from them and that's it.
For a site to get dat from check the link in your post |

however, when it gets updated, the Tosec site is centered on amiga emulation and just because i'm more informed about what happens in in tosec names visiting here than other dats sites that are of general purpose, i prefer then use the tosec categorization.

The exact same file would never have a different crc, and certaintly not out by just 1 number, the above example would never happen especially as it's an ipf.

Ah and btw : The last info on Tosec.org is from october 2007 and Tosec.info is offline. It (sadly) wont help with newer releases. |

@Another World: so resuming, "official" doesn't exist.
it's just a matter of how much one's prone to so somebody else's authority also, authoritative is a relative term when in the same phrase as a 10.000 years old scrawny vampire-rat but it is worthy to say that tosec can count on a wider (it seems to me) audience and test by the people here so, even if the site is offline, the DATs keep on being checked and updated -not all of them released yet- by people who visit this board. |

I disliked no-intro because they used some strange ordering for GBA games. (everyone else used release #)
IIRC no-intro works great with OfflineList. (wasn't there link for no-intro on their site, and option to download screenshots from front-end??) Long time ago when GT offered FTP downloads for gtrons (that was fun time ) I downloaded no-intro packs. |
