A500 Gotek

Hi there ò/ I recently purchased a gotek for my amiga 500. I was wondering if there is any trick to use adf larger than 880k and how create it.

Tysm snoopy; after that can i edit, delete and add new files direct from the workebench ?

I want to make a large ADF or others Workbench 1.3/1.2 to store many apps instead of resetting every time to launch apps one by one. Is this possible ? How ?

Unfortunately you are stuck with 880kB ADFs on a 1.x system and can double that for HD disk sized ADFs on a 2.x or newer system.

But of course you are free to make your own compilation disks of whichever utilities you feel you need. That's what I did before I finally got a hard disk drive for my Amiga, I had a ton of different boot disks for different uses. Others had a CLI menu, others went all the way to workbench.

What programs do you want to use on the A500?
Maybe you can organize them on several floppy disks.
After all, you have GOTEK on which you can have multiple floppies on a flash drive and switch them as needed without resetting the computer.

Hi Nor Bert!

You have to reset every time and switch to boot if you want to change floppy.

I supposed that you can browse the content of the gotek with a file manager once you are in the workebench in some way but no as far as i know :|

Hi guys!

I have an issue with my gotek attached as the internal floppy ( I assume as df0 ).

On the amiga 500 board i have also an physical floppy external drive that is not being detected once I am in the workbench.

Is there any particular jumper settings that I can do?

Gotek can operate in three modes:

- Normal mode : Recommended mode for Gotek drives having one LCD / OLED or OSD screen.

- Indexed Mode :To be used with 7 segments screen Gotek drives or no screen Gotek drives.

Autoboot/File selector mode :Can be used with all Gotek if used on Atari ST/Amiga/Amstrad machines. (AUTOBOOT.HFE)

What mode does your Gotek operate in?

Is the system floppy inserted into an external drive?
What kickstart do you have in your Amiga?

Im using Kickstart 1.2 and Workbench 1.3

My gotek works in all 3 modes at present o.O

Im using flashfloppy v3.41 the floppy drive is inserted yes of course... AmigaKit can operate with it but once Im in the Workbench screen it seems that the external floppy is disabled

What mode are you using now in Gotek?
Depending on what mode you are using , this is the kind of help you will get.

The external drive will activate when you boot the Amiga from DF0.
What floppy disk are you inserting into DF1?
Is the external drive operational ?

With the regular floppy drive in df0 the external drive df1 works very well.
Is a " Citizen OSDC-29C " inside a regular Amiga case. The floppy inserted is an original working Commodore Workbench 1.3 extras.

I tried the 3 differents mode without any luck.

I will try to connect the Gotek on my second Amiga500 with Kickstart 1.3 maybe the Gotek dosen't like ks 1.2 :/

Each mode requires a separate configuration file.
Do you have the configuration file for mode 3 on a memory stick ?
Is the file AUTOBOOT.HFE on a memory stick ?

The issue is the board (rev 3 kickstart 1.2). In my second Amiga 500 (rev 6 kickstart 1.3) it works great. I think I will put the gotek inside the external drive. Thank you ?

Ok.
I don't have kick1.2, but I can programmatically replace it on my a600 (it has kick2.x)
When I find time I will do tests on a600 with kick1.2 and GOTEK.

Dear Norbert thank you so much for your interest but is not needed

The owner of this project said that the board has a lack of id.
It makes no sense put ks 1.2 in an amiga 600 (I think) 'cause the issue is an amiga 500 rev 3 board.

Im sure that in your 600 will work great

I bought the Gotek just to replace the internal floppy drive that has been broken last week :/
