Panavision SX-1 Box Amiga CD32

Hello. I am new here.

I am a VERY happy owner of a Amiga CD32.

Now i have a Panavision SX-1 Box.

I plugged it on, turned on the tv, and the cd32 starts up, the harddisk beguns spinning, and a screen comes, that says.

Expantion is: Defective.

NOIOOOOOOO!!! MY SX-1 Box is defect???

I tried pulling out all the unmountable chips, plugged on again, and it dident help anything.

The sx-1 box has not been used for 10years.

The only thing i can do, is click om continue, and the cd32 starts up, as usual.

Now is there a Guru in here, that has any knowlige of this problem???
ANY ONE THAT CAN HELP````?

defective means it did not react on autoconfig as it should. It can be only simple matter of bad contact (try to clean them), bad memory configuration (you have jumper on 8MB RAM but you have only 4MB SIMM inserted or vice versa). In worse it can be completely broken, like leaked caps, bad altera chip etc.

(Ive once repaired CD32 FMV module which also says Defective on red screen, and it was matter or replacing 3.3V regulator on it, which was burned due to leaked and shorted cap, so no power to logic)

I have unplugged the HD.

It does not have any RAM inserted.

Jumpers 1-2-3-4 is off and 5 is on.

I have not inserted any keyboard, can that make any problem?

the battery is a standard CR2032, no leakege.

but the sx-1box has not been used for many years.

You say clean ths connections, hmm it looks clean.

yes its a red screen, that says defective, and i can only press contuniue.

conectors LOOKS always clean but if it was not use for years there must be some oxidized residue on it, jus a micrometer

try to find some isopropyl or other strong alcohol and clean it

it doez not matter if you have connected keyboard or not

try to switch jumper 3 to ON (its RAM Disable jumper)

Actually, i removed the HD
Sat jumper 3 on ON mode, JP3= Test

Now i started the cd32 on JP3 "test" mode, and it just starter up normally.

after a reboot, i did hold the left and right mouse, thistime the diabnostic window told me " expantion works" WOWOOOO!!!

I then plugged a floppy drive, swooped in the WB30. install disk, and it started up perfectly.

Reboot, connect the HD, enter hd toolbox, and made ned partiton, but the hd made the same click sounds for 5 min, an nothing happend.

I must conslude, that the little 84MB HDD is dead ;-)

I want to buy compactflash solution, but dont know from where, and hot to set it up.

is the CF card and 2.5" HD connections the same???

THANX for the help ;-)
YOU ARE THE MANNN

Best regards from Denmark!

Ebay or DealExtreme. Once set up it will work just like an IDE hard drive.

You do not need more than 8 GB space for your purpose, just accept it
