CD32 PSU Poll - Which one is better?

Hi Folks , Time for another Poll.

This Time, Amiga CD32 Power Supplies.
Do you think one is better than the other ?

For my experience , the First Model ( the heavy (C65) PSU is the best )
The Second "light model" is pretty unreliable. (2 of them bit the Dust)

But Model 1 keeps on going.

So, what do you guys think.
( from my experience, the heavy ones are always the best,
since the A-500er times )

What Original Amiga CD32 PSU is the best.
Please only vote if you have experience in that field

Only ever had the light one with my CD32 ---
Seems OK.

Had one similar to the heavy in White (A600/1200) [Resin Filled]
which puts out less than a Real Heavy [Air Filled Transformer] I have.

Mine's the heavy one and all I can say is it works nothing more to add as i can't compare it to the light one (never had one).

I believe I read that the heavy one, like the c64 supplies, will eventually fail with a high voltage from one of the vregs (damaging your console).

(Cant verify that although as I have never pulled one apart)

Linear (transformer supplies) are more expensive for the copper and Iron
in the transformer, and heavier to freight, so industry was keen to adopt switchmode supplies.

Linear supply is simpler, and easier to fix, and don’t generate extra noise,
they only use a pi filter to deal with mains frequency, and that’s why i prefer them generally.

Of course, all CD32 supplies suck if you have any additional expansion!

My Main Amiga Cd32 is Expanded with the Elsat Promodule ( or Vector Shuttle ).
(only 8MB and a CF card .. The floppy isn´t pluged in, because i dont need it)

The Original Heavy Model works great and power´s the complete Unit.
(because no Floppy and no Real Harddisc)

It run for years, and it had days with 12 hours non stop action. No probs so far.
Can´t say the same for the Light modell´s
