1084 vs. CM8833 MK2

Hello

Need some advice, on what is the best between these two monitors, i have owned a 1084S, but never the Philips, and i have heard Amiga users say the CM8833 MK2 is the pinnacle of CRT perfection for the Amiga, is this true? Does anyone have any real world use of both? does the CM8833 have the same resolution etc. as the 1084

Slainte

The 8833-II is almost the same monitor as the 1084-P1, just missing S-Video (LCA) input, which is irrelevant for an Amiga anyway..

Pretty much as Jope says, they are virtually identical capability wise aside from the SVideo input on the 1084s, right down to the power switches having the same tendency to break down in the same manner (Because they use the same part).

If you get one of these monitors you may have to replace the power switch. It's easier to replace on the 1084s as the power switch is on the front of the monitor and connects to the mainboard via wires, while the CM8833-II switch is soldered onto the main board at the back of the unit.

I own a Philips 8833mk2, and first in '90 a 1084S D2.
I think both monitors are very good, the Philips has a "green" switch to emulate old green phosphor monitors.

1084S D2, as just told, has Y/C input, ideal for CD32 or Commodore retro computers.

The 1084-P switch is in the front, this monitor is equivalent to the CM8833.

The 1084-P1 and P2 switches are in the back, these monitors are equivalent to the CM8833-II.
