Thanks Alex - I've updated:

Wings Of Death
Lethal Xcess
Amberstar
Enchanted Land

I'll update the others tomorrow.

I noticed that in the in-game credits of Enchanted Land it says "Amiga coding - Michael Krause", while you said Jochen Hippel did the Amiga conversion. Which is correct?

Also, the in-game credits of Amberstar says "Amiga Conversion: Udo Fischer". I'm assuming that this means Udo did the Amiga coding.

I think you may be correct. It says in the manual that Jochen did coding, but I guess it was just Music coding. Jochen did a lot of the Amiga conversions.

I'd have to ask him, but Yes. It's almost certainly correct. Michael Bittner and Jurie Horneman having done the ST version.

Cheers

Hooooo Atomix vs. Atomic

Thanks for your great information, Alex!

As you're here now...could you shed some light on the issue Atomix vs. Atomic? I'd like to get this solved eventually. Twistin' has had this request for ages in his MIA list, that he's looking for ATOMIX with ATOMIX title screen, so does this really exist for the Amiga?

Maybe you can directly ask your contacts about this.
The C=64 version has indeed an ATOMIX logo (with 'X').

[edit]
Trex Warrior and Tower FRA fixed.

Alex: if Art Edition did a re-release of Neuronics, I'm sure we must let the 1989 stay. It's about the first release. Should be in the notes, then (probably).

Arrow The game is Atomix

I'm sure there is only one version of the game, and it is called Atomix on the Amiga.

Maybe it was originally going to be called Atomic and somebody knocked up the title screen as one of the first parts of the project.

However I think the "C" on the title screen could be some graphic artist being clever and trying to merge the "X" with the "I" to make it look more elite and less cluttered.

I am 99% sure (never 100%!) we will never find this alternate version because it doesn't exist. The game is Atomix, the title looks like Atomic to some people - end of story.

C64 title screen - maybe the artist forgot to draw the remaining part of the X? :-)

I've updated:

A Prehistoric Tale
Leavin' Teramis
Trex Warrior

The credits in Leavin' Teramis say that Michael Bittner and Jochen Hippel converted the game to the Amiga.

@Codetapper / Cody ...

I'm wondering whether we didn't have an agreement in HOL that we do not enter graphic artists for game boxes?
Celal Kandemiroglu did the art for the box, and *that is why* I had intentionally left him out in Trex Warrior.

Me too, but TOSEC seems to disagree on that.
That actually has been confusing me ever since I first saw 'Atomic' there.

I very much doubt that the real date for Neuronics was 1989. I dont have an original (other than an Art Edition) but as the music was done by Matthias Steinwachs and he didnt join until late 1991....

http://www.nemmelheim.de/steinwachs/games.html

I cannot 100% confirm or deny a 1989 date, but it would make it a 1st year Thalion title, and it's not part of "Thalion 1st Year" box set.

BTW: I notice that you have a section for compilations etc. In 1990 Thalion did a compilation containing all their 1st years games. Called "- The First Year -". It contained 4 games. Chambers of Shaolin. Warp, The Seven Gates of Jambala and Leavin' Teramis

Cheers

Alex

Eclipse seem to have been attributed several games they didnt do (perhaps multiple companies called eclipse?)

I am almost 100% sure that they didnt do :

Atax
Cardiax
Growth

Eclipse was founded by Marc Rosocha and he's not credited in any of the games in any way. (By that I mean there is no sign that he was involved hence not the same Eclipse company!)

Also Lethal Xcess was definately published by Eclipse, just as Monster Buisness was but HOL doesnt have a publisher set for Lethal Xcess.

Cheers

Alex

Post Eclipse

Maybe there are 2 companies called Eclipse but the more common Team 17 version of Cardiaxx (the Team 17 one) right at the start shows Eclipse presents...

I am 99% sure of this as I spent a lot of time resourcing this game for the WHDLoad install. (However the game was so buggy I left it for C-Fou who supposedly got his version working up to level 4 - but his crashes on level 1 for me everytime!)

Maybe HOL should change the Thalion Eclipse entry to Eclipse (Marc Rosocha) or something?

But did it have the "Eclipse Software Design" logo with the moon eclipsing the sun, with that strange green colour?

?? The HOL entry 181 is for "Eclipse Software Design" not "Thalion Eclipse" which is totally correct. HOL just has games tagged to this company which I am 99% sure they didnt do.

That isnt their logo or font. They kept the same logo and font all the way through to Iron Soldier 3 for the PSone in 2000. It aint the same company.

I've...

- changed the Neuronics date to 1992 and updated the entry.
- Split the two Eclipses into Eclipse (Austria) and Eclipse (UK).
- Added Eclipse (Austria) as the publisher for Lethal Xcess
- Updated the Cardiaxx (Team 17) and Monster Business entries.

This ST link says this about Eclipse:

Quote:
Marc actually asked me to think of a name for his company. Because I was a fan of Yngwie Malmsteen, who had just released "Eclipse", I thought of "Eclipse Design" or something. Erik Simon made an Eclipse logo and that's about it. Later it was discovered that there was already an old, little known company called Eclipse, but the name was kept anyway.' (Richard)

Do you want some Box cover scans for the missing Thalion games?

I could produce some higher resolution scans, but in the meantime if you want to nick them from the Thalion webshrine it's fine by me.

Eventually, but in the meantime, something is better than nothing?
