Adventure Probe (UK Magazine / BBS)

Does anyone remember "Adventure Probe"?

It appears to have been a hand printed (photocopied) computer RPG fanzine made in the NW of England (Wigan, Liverpool, Llandudno) between June 1986 and December 1994 after which I believe it became a BBS / website.

Why am I asking?

I was trying to find out the origin of a Walkthrough written for the game Amberstar by Brian Burke that I have which was downloaded from their BBS.

http://thalion.exotica.org.uk/games/...mberstar.1.txt
http://thalion.exotica.org.uk/games/...mberstar.2.txt

It was downloaded from the "Adventure Probe BBS" sometime between 01/09/1992 (when Amberstar was published in English) and 16/04/1995 (when phone numbers changed to 01 prefix in UK).

It doesn't seem to have been published in the printed magazine (Each year issue 12 they printed an index of solutions for that year and Amberstar is not in any index between 6-12 (Dec 1992) and 8-12 (Dec 1994)

The editors were Sandra Sharkey and later Mandy Rodriguez.

Ringing any bells?

Just curious to know anything about them and/or Brian Burke.

I found out that this Amberstar playguide was originally published in Atari ST Disk Magazine SynTax 1993 Issues 24 and 25

The walkthrough was published in issues 24-30 of named disk magazine, to be exact.

Ah, I hadn't noticed.

I'm not sure where I got my version from (Adventure Probe BBS?) but I've had it since at least 1996 and been hosting it since 1998. It is the one available everywhere now. It has only two parts (but contains the full solution).

Interesting that it was originally in 7 parts when published in SynTax.
