No way! I have searched everywhere for this mythical beast. Could you please zone it? Desperate to see this in action.

It is still only 25 fps, the same as every cd32 version there is. Both 1 player and 2 player are 25 fps in WinUAE, fastest possible settings, chip speed to the max.
Same also on pistorm32 ... 25 fps all the way.

Let's clarify that the game originally runs at 25Hz, on Amiga 1200 the framerate drops a bit on the rock level (Easy - Level 7) and playing in 2 players mode.

But if you play the game (I tested WHDLoad version) on a MiST fpga the game runs always at 25 fps like Lotus II, even in 2 player mode.
The game is always fluid.

This is also true if you play Super Monaco GP on MiST/Minimig core, the framerate is very high compared to a standard A1200/030...

Thanks for the zoned download!

I don't know if I am just going mad but I am not sure I can tell the difference between floppy and CD32. Even mountain framerate doesn't seem too bad in both when I look today.

Floppy:

Perhaps it is just related to CPU speed?

Jup.

Lotus 3 is pretty heavy on the Blitter/Chips-speed

You could get some performance back when disabling the music and only use SFX !!!

They did that with Lotus 2 and thats the reason why there was no music in Lotus 2.

But depending on your setup the game speed of Lotus 3 can vary.

You can test that easily in WinUAE, by changing from Cycle exact to "fast as possible".

Or on a MiniMig FPGA, by changing the Chip-speed. It can go from choppy to super smooth.

(depending on the chip speed)

No magical version; just the Chipspeed makes all the difference.

In any case; here is a interview with Andrew Morris about Gremlin games,
Lotus and why Lotus 3 was so not as "smooth" as the other lotus games ; amongst other topics.

I was always a Fan of his Graphics Style. So Nice; just like the man himselft.

WinUAE Tests, LotusIII With music enabled

PAL 50FPS
NTSC 60FPS (Music plays faster)

Though I don't see any difference from aladin's LotusTrilogyCD32-WHDL.lha, I get same results in Winaue with both versions.

Or is this fix only visible on the rock level (Easy - Level 7) ?

What's the code for Level7? Hol Codes aren't for CD32 version

At least on real hardware the differences between the original version (floppy or WHD) and the zoned fixed version are clearly visible.

Thats true. This Hacked version is a bit smoother on the exact same setup.
(WHDLoad Cache enabled)

But the same rule apply: The higher the Chip-Speed the smoother the game.

I believe you.

But its true, the Hacked CD32 Version is slightly smoother.

How can both these statements be true? How can the hacked version be smoother but no different to WHD version with byte identical images?

No no no, that is a misunderstanding. (read carefully plz)

When i compare the speed,
i compared the "regular floppy WHDload version" to the uploaded "fix".

The fixed is slightly smoother.

But what Ransom said was; that hey could not tell any difference between the "fix" and the Aladin Generic WHDversion.
(that is a generic slave that has the hacked cd32 version on it, the same as the "fix")

So, dont get confused with that.

Regular WHDload (game specific slave) and the Aladin (generic slave) - are not the same thing.

(aladin used the hacked version, and THIS uses the same images as the one viddi uploaded to the zone)

In other words:
You can use either the upload from viddi OR use Aladins preinstalled WHDload generic Lotus 3 Pack ...
makes no difference - those use the SAME hacked Lotus 3 images.

https://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/N...yCD32-WHDL.lha

Or you can use the Regular Floppy WHDLoad version of Lotus 3, but this is slightly slower.

Thats all i have to say about that
