shenandoah returns!!!
It is with non hided joy that I proudly anounce you that a creator of the unreleased shooter shenandoah krister K (callsign orlandrobo) has noticed my previous messages on the shenandoah topic. We will post here shortly, and will give us all info we, no doubt, crave to know. Perhaps sufficiently to scavenge the game...
Shenandoah will be preserved, as has been calephar! starlord. |

Some Shenandoah info
Wow! This is so cool. Someone takes interest in
our - more than a decade old - project. We have no connection to the Amiga scene anymore, so we were thrilled to find this out as we still love Amiga games! We were four guys with a company called Exceed that developed Shenandoah for the Amiga 500 for maybe two yers. We also started some other game projects that didn't reach finishline either. We were young eager and naive and the projects grew out of proportions for us to handle within reasonable dev time. (Exceed doesn't exist anymore.) Shenandoah was cancelled because it was a sparetime project without any budget and the programmers got tired of having no money, so they jumped ship, leaving us with a fully playable first level separated into two parts. We even developed our own hardware that could add two extra joysticks thus giving a four player mode!!! Awesome! There were different player modes: either you played four small ships or two giant ships that each were controlled by two players; one controlled the ship and the other a cannon. Also you could play two small ships and one big. For the two player and the single modes you had medium sized ships. The number of weapons were something like 25 in total! All different, they in turn had several power levels. We have a lot of graphics for several levels done that were never implemented, but we gave up on finding programmers that would do it in their sparetime. It would probably make a great cellphone game today. I'll see if I can dig out some screenshots at home. (Give me till after xmas though. I think they're left in my parents house and I'm living quite far way from there now.) The full title was "Shenandoah, doughter of the stars". We wrote a backstory about a former general of interstellar conflicts who had stolen a device called Shenandoah. It was designed to make planets inhabitable and now he built his own civilazation, which you have to penetrate in order to bring back the Shenandoah. The demo we have is only playable on an Amiga 1200 due to memory reasons. (The mem routines were never finished.) I have to find out how to get the demo to the pc so I can send it off to those who are interested. We aslo made a pc demo with two additional programmers as well, but that's too buggy and only runs in DOS. I haven't been able to start it in years. I saw a post here tht said that he played the demo of Shenandoah from off a cover CD. We have never heard of this. Are you sure you're not mixing it up with some other game? If not, We'd very much like to know more about this please! Thanks! |

Sounds pretty cool, We will have to scavenge that level!
Any volunteers for completing the game? It's a shame to let this thing unfinished. |

@olandrobo: Nice background information. I`m sure that I have played a demo of this game. It looks pretty cool and it`s a pitty that it was never completeted. I will search for the demo and upload it to the zone.
Any chance that we can complete this game and release it for Amiga computer? It has much potential. |

I found the Preview of SHENANDOAH on CD32-Gamer-CD 22. You can find it in the zone now.
If somebody has the magazin he can sell it to me. Issue 21 and 22 are still missing in my collection. ;O) SHENANDOAH works fine on my CD32 and A4000. Nice GFX!!! The readme hold the following information: Shenandoah by (C) 1994 Exceed Productions Official release: February 1996 This game was supposed to have been released as a full price product, but programmers are a strange breed. (Infact one of the programmers realized that he was gay, the other moved to America and got married (at the age of 19 ), and is now working as a chinese chef. (We're selling the rights for the book, real cheap.) About the game: Shenandoah consists of two levels, seperated by the main menu. (The menu text is out of date, but couldn't be changed.) To skip the menu, press the firebutton (RED button). There is also a two player option, in which one player controls the ships steering with the joystick/pad and the other player controls the ships main cannon using the mouse. Shenandoah was supposed to have been a A500 game but the memory system only works with A1200/A4000/CD32, at least as far as we know. Have fun playing this game, and if you do, please consider sending some sort of present. Maybe 5£, some disks with something YOU have created, or simply a letter. Software houses that are intrested in quality graphics (both mousedrawn and traced) can also contact us at the following addresses: Douglas kalberg N.Stromg. 14 441 30 Alingsas Sweden Krister Karlsson Tegelbruksg. 36C 441 56 Alingsas Sweden |

Holy crap! I must've COMPLETELY forgotten about that. Maybe our publisher did this. But I guess we sent it somewhere 'cause no one else would have the info displayed above. I have to get that demo and try to run it in WINAUE but I don't have access to the zone. Maybe you could send it my email? hollowhead@bikerider.com
I just looked through some old graphics for the game and it was more than I remember. It has stuff for at lest 5 levels. (The reason I'm not uploading stuff here is that I have yet to figure out how to get on the pc.) |

Thanks, I guess I don't need to tell u that I'm new here. And I'm too excited bout this Shenandoah thing that I haven't had time to read the FAQ.
It would be great if someone would find it interesting to finish the game. I'll look into if I can get the code somehow first... |

this looks VERY promising: Three chears for orlandrobo again for having reacted to my shenandoah message. Without him, that pearl would have not made it to us.

The PC demo is in too poor shape to be of any good for anyone. I could send though, if the disk is still intact. I'll have a look around at home for it.
And for Starlord; a big salut for caring about our old game in the first place! I was certain that it had been long forgotten. |

Nujack: that demo registers as a pc application. Is it pc or amiga? (if it's pc, it's quite unusual for a cd32 press release).
Any chance of having the amiga port of shenandoah (in adf format?). |

@olandrobo: Thanks, looking forward to it.
@starlord: It's for Amiga. Even though the files have the .exe extension, they contain Amiga code. |

is it taken in charge by WinUAE? or does it need to be converted into ADF format?
