Akira's PD request corner
Ok, I'll be posting requests for some PD shit I haven't found ever. Hope you guys can help me! Here goes the first one:
Zonic by Alexander Kowalik The following ad has been found in a german mag (Amiga Special, December 97/January 98 issue). The shop that sold this game back then was called "Silver Software & Design", its address is: Postfach 200 531 - 51435 Bergisch Gladbach Telephone 02202/955 70-300 (who knows, perhaps the shop still exists and someone can confirm it?: )) |

I remember having a disk that looked like that, but what I remember was a (rolling) demo that was a bit of a fake, but served the purpose of showing that Sonic could be done on the Amiga. I wonder what the German text says translated? If this is actually a playable real game, that would kick ass!

I uploaded the Sonic game. Anyway, I planned to put it on BTTR in the next update, but now it is online at this place earlier... Please note that it is NOT very playable. The screen starts
again and again an... Also it has to be mentioned that the 'game' was developed by some dudes of the scene group Dual Crew Shining. I guess it was their motivation to prove that a game like Sonic *would* be possible on the Amiga and not to code a complete game... As for Mallander: They were the greatest cheaters in the German PD biz and ripped off many customers by their dubious advertisements. One stated "Doom on the Amiga". Of course people expected to get an Amiga port of the ID game, but all they got was the poor PD game "Escape from Mount Doom" for a price of 10.00 Euro if I remember correctly. I think this guy who runs the company became rich with it because of their aggressive advertisement campaigns in the mags and by selling good PD games at prices for commercial software. They simple ignored the readme's with notes like "PD companies are not allowed to sell the game for prices higher than 1.00 UKP". There would be more bad things to tell about Mallander and Computer Center Bocholt, but originally this thread is about the Sonic game |

Thanks for the reupload, Paul!
Now, I have tried this one out, and it doenst seem like the one Im looking for. Look at the pic I attached, the Title screen is different, and it clearly says "Zonic" and a name of its author.. and some options below it... Retroman, do you think this shop would still have their Amiga stuff? Id like to nab this game, if its any similar to the DCS demo, it's nice |

Guess this already gives an idea of the game's quality... (Btw, I'm not really sure whether "Gondel" means "car"). |

Does anyone have the registered version of Extreme Violence? It has a couple of extra weapons etc. I know it exists, I've seen a screenshot, but the author (Simon Green) doesn't have it anymore :-(

It really seems to be another game... Zonic was also on Berliner Spielekiste Disk 1009:
Autor: Alexander Kowalik/Sundancer Berlin PD were/are (?) the greatest Amiga games PD library. I ordered something from them in 2000... I contacted them again in 2001 but did not receive a reply. They had tons of undiscovered Amiga PD games in their library (more than 1500 disks plus lots of extra series with 100s of disks)! The latest known address is: B*E*R*L*I*N PD S. Wenzlaff & W. Hillenbrand Bismarckstr. 64 13585 Berlin Tel 030-3335425 Fax 030-3336493 Perhaps somebody of you would like to try to contact them... |

It would be sweet if we could get a hold of the Berliner Spielekiste collection, though. No telling what kind of gems are in that library!
