Seelenturm/Tower of Souls AGA in winuae

Has anyone managed to run this in winuae?

I've installed it directly to HD but the game won't start. WHDL version doesn't work either, sound is all messed up and it doesn't get past the title screen.

This worked just fine on my old A1200 iirc. Does it need any particular settings?

Have you tried the one from the KG packs?
There is also a fix for the disk version http://www.amigafuture.de/downloads....c404b48d7b78da

It's from whdownload, which I guess is the same as KG's.

What do I do with the fix? Just copying it in the drawer didn't change anything.

Apparently you boot from the update disk and have to overwrite the original disks 1,2 & 5 . But if it was me I would try it with copies first.

Just tried KG's TowerofSouls and it works fine. A1200 2mb chip, 4mb fast, kick 3.1.

Same Results with KG's SeelenturmAGADe.

"Works fine here". Version from WHDownload.com. Please provide more info. ClassicWB, AmiKit or just a plain WB 3.x install? Which setting for WinUAE do you use? Try just the A1200 4 MB expanded quickstart first.

Works fine here as well now. Barebone A1200 config, though I'm sure I had tried this before.

What's funny, Chaos Engine AGA doesn't run on the same config.

Plain A1200 - 3.1, 020, 4MB fast, 1MB slow, 2MB chip, no JIT

The intro plays fine but then nothing happens when the main menu should appear.

Still works here with that setup. Takes a bit until the main menu appears though. Can you still quit back to WB when that happens?

Yea F10 works. Now this is weird, I played around with the settings and got in the game for the first time. Restarted winuae to try again and now I hear the sounds from the game in the background but the screen is all black.

Try the Miscellaneous tab in WinUAE and change the Graphics API from Direct 3D to Direct Draw. The latest WinUAE seems to have issues with nVidia based graphics cards and Direct 3D mode.

It was set to DD already and it's an ATI card anyway. Now it's back to being stuck at the loading screen. Can't for the life of me figure out which setting I changed earlier to make it work.

Start with no startup-sequence and run WHDLoad from the CLI (cd into the folder with the Chaos Engine slave and enter 'whdload chaosengineaga.slave').

Ok, get this: game has to start with JIT off else it won't run at all, then during the intro I go into options and turn JIT on, press fire and menu appears instantly, game seems to work fine from there on. Very messy but at least it works.

JIT and WHDLoad isn't a good idea. Best to leave it disabled when you're going to play games.

Why do you use Chipram+Slowram+Fastram in a A1200 config? Use Chipram+Fastram only, for all games.

Dunno. Seelenturm initially refused to run with just 2chip&4fast ("you need chipmem at *address*") so I added some slowram and since it worked I left it like that.
