Top 10 Amiga Superhero Games

Amiga only had 11 games based on comic book superheroes. At least to my knowledge. I don't consider Terminator or Robocop to be superheroes to be clear. Anyway, grand majority of them were laughingly bad so approach this list cautiously. One way or another, have a look and let me know what you think.

Simulmondo released some Italian games based on Spider-man - L'Uomo Ragno: Il Ritorno Di Hobgoblin, ...E Ora, Carnage! and L': Destino Incrociato!.

There's a game based on British comic book character Dan Dare called Dan Dare III: The Escape as well as American character Buck Rogers in Buck Rogers: Countdown To Doomsday.

Nathan Never might be a possible inclusion too.

Are Asterix and Obelix superheroes?

To my big surprise, no a lot of Italian comics characters in Amiga games. (like Zagor, Tex Willer, Mister No...)

There were twelve Tex Willer releases plus games based on Diabolik, Dylan Dog, Lupo Alberto, Nathan Never, RanXerox and Cattivik.

They were to me! As is Robocop, and also the Terminator given any movie after Terminator 1.

The Amazing Spiderman is my #1. I can't help but be a sucker for games with tiny sprites and these are the tiniest that even animate well. Batman is good... but it also has that dreadful flying level.

I think what I enjoyed about Batman the most was that it followed the plot more or less of a movie and offered various types of gameplay. After all it was not very common back then and most movie licenses were lost on awful games.

Well, I never saw any comics with him. Perhaps that's something I overlooked?

That's actually a pretty valid point. The fact that they were based in ancient times does not take away from their feats of heroism. And they were positive characters. Perhaps, it seems, I've missed couple of games that could've raised the average quality of games on this list. xD

Thank you both for pointing that out. No wonder I never heard of them, as all of those games were only released in the Italian language. While I grow up reading all of them (and many more, including Mister No, Martin Mystere, Alan Ford (who was more popular in Balkan countries then in Italy), sadly I never learned much of Italian language.

I will have to try those games, even without knowing much of Italian. Sad that they never translated any of them.

Was that X-Men mod ever ported to Amiga though? Quake was released on it in a form of an unofficial port years after the system was long dead, so...

It was reviewed in several Amiga magazines (e.g. http://amr.abime.net/review_3357) but it was through a disreputable company called Alive Mediasoft.

I do have Superfrog in my Top 10 Amiga Platformer Games video. Which actually has quite a few very good titles unlike this one.

This however, was only comic book based superheroes.

OK, I see. 1998. Well, it is on the Amiga. But after it was discontinued for some time. I don't know how to approach it really. I suppose I'll just ignore it for this video and perhaps take it under consideration for another. Maybe something with 3D on the Amiga as it was not very common, at least not in the same capacity as it was on PC. If I manage to get to run that is.
