Lemmings (ADF) sound problems
A basic game, very well known.
I am trying to play it in WinUAE 1.5.3, and I've tried three different releases, but they all have music problems in the music of the second level (FUN - "only floaters can survive this"). Is this common to every ADF release? Pre-installed WHD version does not have any music problems. It doesn't seem to be a sound config isuue: my sound is synced to a perfect 50Hz display and all other games sound file, and the whdload lemmings version sounds great, too. What could be the cause? Thanks! |

All cracked Lemmings versions have one or more errors on Disk 2.
Please test my repaired Disk. (in the zone) Sorry for my bad english! |

Is that artifact a 'scratching' sound in place of the samples, gaula? After thinking that it used to be fine many years ago, returning to Lemmings now and again brought that with every version that I had. I eventually sorted it by running through the versions that a friend had and trying a couple of SPS/IPF versions.
I don't know if any of these ADFs work correctly, but will try what I have when I have a few moments. I know that I now have one that plays the music okay on all the levels that I have tried so far - just not which it is or whether or not it is only the IPF images! From what JonnyB says, it looks like it is only the IPFs... I will check, though. Jonny, what is/are the error(s) on the second disk? |

@JonnyB
Man I don't know how you fixed it, but hank you very much However I think the pitch of the sample is too high, but at least the annoying scratch sound is gone |

Hi,
i used the Lemmings HD-Installer by Jean-Francois Fabre to make real files from the diskimages. http://jffabre.free.fr/amiga/jff_loaders/lemmingshd.lzx http://jffabre.free.fr/amiga/bintools/LATEST/jst.lha Lemmings IPF images can be installed with -> 2 disk version (PAL/NTSC) Lemmings ADF images can be installed with -> ohno more lemmings (dos track) I installed the original CAPS Lemmings into one folder and the cracked Lemmings into another folder, then i compared the files. On the Lemmings Disk2 [cracked by Chain/Semtex - t+10 Goonies] is only the soundfile "strings2" different. (defect?) Then, i used a HEX-Editor and wrote the good "strings2" soundfile over the old. (on the diskimage) comparison: Lemmings (1991)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr Chain - Semtex][t +10 Goonies].adf -> 1 different file strings2 Lemmings (1991)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr SKR][b errdms].adf -> 5 different files msnr mspeedup mtp1 mtp2 strings2 Lemmings (1991)(Psygnosis)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr SKR][v Lamer Exterminator 2].adf -> virus on bootblock and 2 different files special3 strings2 |

I just registered myself because I HAD the same problem and found a much easier and better solution.
Just download the ORIGINAL disk images in IPF-format. As far as I understand these are the original disks with their original copy protection still intact. IDEAL for the REAL experience! No more sound issues, just 100% Psygnosis. Download the IPF-images here: [Link deleted - Graham] Site is somewhat slow... I recommend to grab it while you can. Get the IPF-plugin and put it where your WinUAE.exe is located: http://www.softpres.org/download Get the Windows-Version. I am really glad something like the SPS (Software Preservation Society) exists. Imagine those really sweet tunes from Lemmings would be lost. Just 30 minutes ago I listened to the Level2-Music... for the first time in about 15 years I heard those tunes unaltered and 100% clean and error-free. The weird thing is that back then when I had the A500 I also had the SkidRow-Release of Lemmings. I cannot recall I had any sound problems whatsoever... anyways... grab the above stuff and ENJOY! Hello LeChuck and welcome to EAB.
Sorry but I had to remove the IPFs link in your post - the forum rules state that such files must not be linked on or uploaded to EAB at the request of the SPS team themselves. |

There seems to be another problem with the IPF versions (unless it's with the WHDLoad slave) - they crashed after I'd been playing them for 5/6 minutes on a whdload install (screen freezes, the number in the bottom left corrupts, but music carries on, F10 still quits). My real disks on the same install don't do this.

Wow! Lemmings is all about finding your way in each level... haven't thou ever been in school as a kid, changing Lemmings knowledge with friends during History class?
No, seriously, I suppose you should look in Gamefaqs. If there's a walkthrought for a game, it's to be found there |

Hi Asd and welcome to EAB!
Should have done this back in June, but you can find the fixed disk on the EAB file server in the folder 'Game/Disk' now |
