Pat's Nostalgia - Retro Review Channel on YouTube with a slight focus on Amiga games
Hey everyone!
I wanted to do this for a long time and now that I have a little more time, I started my own review channel on YouTube called "Pat's Nostalgia": http://www.youtube.com/PatsNostalgia I know that it looks bad when you open a channel and there's just one video - so I made three (and a sort of short review I call a tryout). I learned a lot with these first four videos so please bear with me, I try to get better. "Pat's Nostalgia" isn't just about Amiga games but since the Amiga was my main gaming machine in my youth, there is quite a bit nostalgia going on. Don't hesitate to say what you think, what you like and what you don't like. Thanks a lot! |

Sounds great. I haven't watched any of the videos yet but the more Amiga channels the better. The only active one I know of is Jim Plays Games (which is pretty awesome) so bring it!

I think the reviews are brilliant, and the only negative thing I'd comment on is the length of the intro. 50 seconds is a bit much to watch every time, and I think a nice, quick 10-15 second intro would be much better.
Other than that, I think you've done a really good job, and I'll look forward to seeing more reviews soon! |

Thanks a lot! Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
About the opening sequence: Yes, I agree, it's too long. In fact, I'm working on a new one right now. I just haven't found a fitting music track that is short enough and still has the same feeling of both nostalgia and and adventure. So perhaps my next review will still use the old opening but this should change soon. |

Thanks, CyberDruid, I just wanted to post here as well.
I'm currently working on my next review and I'm happy to say this next one will have a shorter opening sequence. Finally. |

Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't mind if in future videos you lowered the game music a bit while you are talking. Otherwise, great stuff.

Yes, I noticed that the background music (right now at around 60%) could be even lower.
Thanks for pointing that out! |

Hey guys!
New episode has arrived. This time I talk about Unreal. [ Show youtube player ] Also included: - louder narration - softer background music - new opening sequence, which is about a third in length - awesome voice distortion due to the fact that I was sick prior to recording - still no 720p Last edited by Patarival; 12 September 2011 at 09:30. |

Good changes regarding the sound (voice/background) and the intro sequence One thing though: The link for HOL at the end is a bit messed up Maybe put the correct one in the description?

Thank you! I hurt my hand and I still can't use it correctly. But my next review should be online soon.

Quite some time has passed. My hand is all right again but some changes in my life forced me to make a break.
I had to move to another house because I needed another room as there is now an additional family member. I got a son! Now that I settled into my new life, I'll continue making reviews! Here are two new ones: Hero Quest [ Show youtube player ] Deja Vu 1 [ Show youtube player ] (and there is a video about my Top 10 emulators if you're interested in such things). Like a newbie I'm struggling with sound recording and video codecs and stuff. Will I ever get better? I surely hope so! Last edited by Patarival; 07 February 2012 at 16:12. |

I usually expect 99% of Youtube reviews to be baseless or ill informed nonsense but this Unreal review was quite excellent. Unreal on Amiga despite quibbles here and there is one of those games people should definitely try. Very atmospheric game as was rightly pointed out
Great stuff, keep it up |
