Killing Game Show - liquid rising too quickly (resolved)

I've tried about 4-5 different dumps of the game, I'm running it on WinUAE 1.42, and no matter what I do the liquid is rising too fast. As proof if you try to watch the demo, instead of making it to near the end of the level like it's supposed to, it dies really early on because the liquid catches up to it.

Anybody know what's going on and how to fix it? Later levels are unbeatable because of this problem.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm running it as an A500. I tried swapping PAL/NTSC but it dies at the exact same time, so that doesn't seem to solve it.

Editx2: Never mind, the WHDLoad version works perfectly. Hooray for bad dumps being all over the place. Arg.

Would you please do me a favour and try the adfs with an older WinUAE version ? I have a similiar problem, but because it's with an whdload-installed game (Impossible Mission 2, Elevator too fast, everything else ok) I didn't look into it.

Every single version on there did the exact same thing. The ONLY one I've found that worked, with ANY version of WinUAE, was the WHDLoad version.

Not sure what on earth they broke when they ripped it, or what the emulator is doing that makes just those versions screw up, but it was pretty frustrating.

Interesting. I don't think it is emulation speed problem because blitter settings have no effect and also whdload version works fine.

(only a guess)

Perhaps copy protection problem. Yes, it is cracked but patched copy protection can still cause problems if there are emulation bugs.

ok, thanx 4 testing. maybe we should include these "faster running" versions of various games in the "The bad cracks / 100% working games thread"
corner of this site.

I was bored enough and tested every Tosec KGS (both real and emulated Amigas used).

Every Tosec version is badly cracked (Skid Row crack). Bad crack = protection check fails = liquid level rises too quickly..

Thanks to Psygore for explaining the protection check.

Not preserved by SPS yet, otherwise I'd do it.

If interested i could investigate to see if i still have the disk.

yes it uses the special psygnosis MFM 1.5 format.

like Obitus, Nitro, and armour Geddon. that's the reason why the game is not
preserved yet....

Obitus has been butchered too....the crack is ugly

Is it possible to do a crack from the preinstalled WHDLoad disk images?

What's wrong with the Razor 1911/Classic crack? I was able to finish it.
