"yet" in quotes, bolded and hopefully 1 day, brothers with the word Soon(tm) and cousin of the word Eventually.

Thanks for your tests and everything!
I agree, something must be wrong with my setup...

No, I couldn't make any play...

It says "v2.50" (I would have to double-check this evening though...)

Hi Koobo all!

So I reinstalled entirely HiP, making sure to copy the new group file in S: and deleting my prefs. but still no playing MP3: same behaviour of "Not enough memory!" immediately when I click "play" on the MP3 file.

I used SnoopDos and everything looks fine to me except maybe that HiP doesn't open the MPEPA.library, shouldn't it? (I have v2.4 in LIBS:)

I'm puzzled

From my point of view. This file can be wrong detected by other soundformat supported by Hippoplayer or/and is trying to loaded to chip memory, not to fast memory.

I think the issue is that Hippo recognizes mp3 files from the suffix, not the prefix, which you have used according to the log. You could try renaming the file from "mp3.foo" to "foo.mp3". I suppose this is a bug

Oh, duh! I haven't thought about that!

Let me try to rename the file this evening and get back to you

Cheers!

Hi Bromigos!

I’m currently facing an issue with hippoplayer. Have downloaded and also applied latest 2.50 update off Aminet. Every time I try and play a mod I keep getting the following error message;

“couldn’t allocate audio channels!”

Have played with the prefs. But every time I choose either Paula or Soundblaster audio the system locks up!

I’m running ahi.device version 5.6

This is a mediator system with a BPPC card 060 with voodoo 4 RTG P96 3.2.4 and Soundblaster 128.

Sound does appear to work as Pegasus USB does the Star Trek computer sound when I have something plugged in and so do demoscene stuff. I’m using ghost mixer with

Music0 = Soundblaster stereo
Unit 1 = Soundblaster stereo
Unit 2 & 3 = Paula stereo

Thanks Mangs!

Hi Leon and Koobo!

@Leon, this seems like a problem with AHI: can you play any module with, say, EaglePlayer (using it's AHI player)?

@Koobo, I renamed the MP3 file "mp3.Desalmados" into "Desalmados.mp3" and it plays!

Only "problem", MuForce complains about HiP, I join its output if that helps. Let me know if I can test other things to remove these "hits"

Cheers!

Just checked and Octamed is the same

Tried re-installing AHI 5.6 (M68k) and AHI 5.7 (PPC). Still the same issue

Hi Leon!

Sorry about that, and I can't really help you because I don't know much about AHI... One thing that you could try, though, is the older (but better?) version available on Aminet, which is the one I use without any problem on my '060...

Keep us posted!

I upgraded my setup to have MuForce and MuGuardianAngel instead of the older Enforcer and MungWall. Now I also get this hit when trying to play mp3, very easy fix fortunately

Do all tunes cause this problem or just some? I checked out a few mods and there seems to be no problem, on FS-UAE at least.

To be clear, the tested files contain the "DIGI Booster module" in front, which means they are the older DB files.

What kind of a setup are you running?

Will post a new thread on here to see if anyone else has any ideas on the subject.

Is there any possibility to play .vgz files with hippoplayer? Do I need any libraries?

Hippo does not play those. I've never heard of this format before

MP3 files with ID3v2 tag in the front of the data now get identified and played correctly

PS. Since HiP can handle MP2 and MP3, could it also support MPG files? I have this file that, for some reason , I renamed as rondo.mpg and HiP says "Not enough memory!" but if I rename it as .mp2, it plays well (minus the MuForce hits already fixed)
